Turtle Paradise: Slot Overview
For there to be a turtle paradise, surely it would be an island or a body of water, which humans have yet to discover? It seems like we homo sapiens are one of the turtles' biggest threats, whether that's via pollution, fishing bycatch, consumption of their meat, and so on. Maybe Red Tiger agrees with the link, too, as they've gone and designed the slot Turtle Paradise, which keeps its shelled inhabitants far away from the greedy grabbing hands of humankind. In this 'Warm Tropical Paradise', baby turtles are free to hatch, invade the game grid, and become dropping wilds in respins or locked wilds during rounds of free spins.
Turtle Paradise's game world does look like a warm tropical paradise. You can easily imagine early morning walks here, waves gently lapping the shore, soft white sand oozing up between your toes. The sort of place where big mother turtles lumber up the beach at night, bathed in moonlight to lay their eggs in a carefully dug hole. And since there are no people around here, or so it seems, before long, those eggs will be hatching and cute baby turtles scurrying down to the seawater to start the cycle all over again. There's something about the way Red Tiger presented Turtle Paradise that it managed to trigger these warm feelings about nature and a longing for an idyllic holiday far, far away from the rat race.
Turtle Paradise has a see-through gaming matrix, showing a repetitive wave process beneath its 5 reels, each reel holding 3 rows. In total, 25 paylines are provided, and above every reel are 3 dots, acting as nests that can be filled with eggs. Bet selection can be done by clicking the stake button, bringing up a list of options from 10 c to $/€20 per base game spin. A medium volatile math model powers Turtle Paradise, where the maximum RTP comes in at 95.68%.
Creatures of the sea make up Turtle Paradise's high-pay symbols, including a jellyfish, a silver fish, a spiky creature, a crab, and a yellow fish. Ten to Ace weed-covered royals are the low pays. Landing a premium 5 OAK symbol win pays 2 to 8 times the stake, while a line of 5 matching royals is worth 1.2x to 1.6x. Wild symbols in Turtle Paradise substitute for all paying symbols.
Turtle Paradise: Slot Features
If the world rejoices when turtle eggs hatch to birth baby turtles, thereby increasing their number, a similar process is desirable in Turtle Paradise, where eggs lead to Baby Turtle Wild and respins. Further on down the track, Baby Turtle Wilds become sticky during free spins.
Egg Nests & Turtle Wilds
Each reel has a 3 egg nest located above it. Each egg position corresponds to the symbol position on the reel below it, starting from top to bottom. Each Turtle Wild that lands on the reels lays an egg in the corresponding egg nest position if it is empty. If a turtle lands in a position where the corresponding egg position already has an egg, the Turtle Respins feature is triggered. If more than one turtle lands on positions occupied by eggs, each extra turtle after the first one adds +1 to the global win multiplier. The global win multiplier applies to all wins in the current Turtle Respins feature.
Turtle Respins
At the start of the Turtle Respins feature, all eggs hatch to reveal Baby Turtle Wilds, which move to the relevant positions on the reels. If there are one or more Baby Turtles on the middle or the top position of a reel, a new respin is triggered after the current respin pays. During respins, Baby Turtles move down one position, and any turtles on the bottom row of a reel vanish. If a new Turtle Wild lands on a middle or top reel position, it lays an egg, immediately hatching a new Baby Turtle Wild in the same position. Respins continue until no more turtles are in the middle or top reel positions.
Free Spins
Some Turtle Wilds appear with half a pendant on their shell. Turtle Wilds with the left part of the pendant appear on the leftmost reel, while Turtle Wilds with the right half of the pendant appear on the middle and the rightmost reel. Landing a turtles possessing the left and right half of the pendant triggers 5 free spins.
If one or more Turtle Wilds have landed on a position with an occupied egg nest when free spins trigger, then each of these turtles increases the global win multiplier by +1. Otherwise, the free spins multiplier starts at x1. At the start of the free spins feature, all present eggs hatch and the Baby Turtle Wilds go to their relevant positions on the reels. Baby Turtles stay locked in position until the round ends. Each Turtle Wild landing in the bonus awards +1 free spin, and a Baby Turtle Wild appears in its place.
Turtle Paradise: Slot Verdict
Turtle Paradise is a rather surprising game and not what was expected. So much so that it makes one wonder whether Red Tiger really has a soft spot for the plight of the turtle. According to The Environmental Magazine, sea turtle numbers have dropped by about two-thirds since the early twentieth century, which is, you know, kind of sad. The critters have swam happily around the oceans for 110 million years, since the time of the dinosaurs, and it's only taken us 110 or so years to help severely decimate their numbers. We really do excel at destruction sometimes.
Shame, because, amongst the other benefits turtles bring to the planet, they're pretty cute, especially the baby ones. They certainly are in Turtle Paradise, where you want to see as many of their brethren on the reels as possible - regular grown-up turtles to lay the eggs and trigger respins, the baby turtles to spawn on the reels, and either do their sticky substitution duties in the free spins round or move down a space for respins.
Despite these charming shelled creatures, the game could seriously use a splash more excitement - like maybe some actual multipliers to make those potential 4,602x wins feel like less of a long shot. But as it stands, the game offers a gentle reminder that you can experience the ocean's treasures without overfishing or plundering—just a serene, albeit underwhelming, spin through turtle territory. For some, it might be love at first sight with those baby turtles. For others, it's just another slot in the sea.
Mediocre
Turtle Paradise is an ok game that does one or two interestingly interlinked things with its turtle population and gameplay.
