Rome Fight For Gold Deluxe: Slot Overview
Games Global studio Foxium has toga-d up once again to revisit antiquity for the online slot Rome Fight For Gold Deluxe. As you can probably tell from the title, Rome Fight For Gold Deluxe is a deluxe version of Rome Fight For Gold, a reskin of Foxium's slot, The Great Albini 2, released in early 2023. For the deluxe edition, some things have stayed the same, some things have been done over. Join us in the arena as we attempt to figure out which is which.
Visually, the two games are hard to tell apart. Rome Fight For Gold Deluxe remains in its box seat position at the Colosseum, one of the greatest venues in the Roman empire, to catch a bit of blood sports action on the sand. With a packed house of cheering Romans, the Colosseum must have been absolutely nerve-wracking to walk out onto, whether someone was there willingly to do battle or not. We're talking about several orders of magnitude greater than a Zoom presentation level of butterflies performed in front of half the company. Rome Fight For Gold Deluxe manages to bottle some of those nerves via its clear atmospheric graphics and dramatic music. Okay, maybe a small fraction of the nerves experienced IRL, but Rome Fight For Gold Deluxe is a neat-looking game.
Statistically, there are things to cheer about in this deluxe version. The RTP, for one, has increased, now creeping up to a default value of 96.37%, dipping a notch to 96.34% when using the Boost feature. With Boost switched off, bets range from 20 c to $/€12.5 per spin, rising to 30 c to $/€18.75 when Boost is on. Boost does not alter the symbol values, but it does mean more Coins on the reels and an increased chance of triggering the Gold, Silver, or Bronze bonus game. As before, the math model is medium volatile.
Rome Fight For Gold Deluxe hosts its showdown on a 5x4 gaming panel in combination with 40 paylines. Winning combinations are made up of 3 to 5 matching symbols and occur at a frequency of 27.19% on the default RTP model. Foxium has helpfully named all of the symbols, so for lows, we've got ten, jack, queen, king, and ace, then shield, helmet, Helena, and Antonius as the 4 high pays. Achieving 5 OAK winning combinations awards 1.5 to 2 times the bet for the royals and 3 to 10 times the bet for the picture symbols. Golden 'W' wilds land on all reels, substituting for all paying symbols. When making wild wins, a line of 5 of them pays 25x the stake.
Rome Fight For Gold Deluxe: Slot Features
In essence, much about Rome Fight For Gold Deluxe's features remains the same, but there have been alterations to them as well. Here's how it goes.
Coin Symbols
Coins appear on reels 1-4, and when a Collect symbol lands on the rightmost reel, the value of all Coins in view is awarded. Bronze Coins award 1-5x the bet, Silver Coins pay 6-15x the bet, and Gold Coins award 20-50x the bet. In addition, the Collect symbol will randomly show a multiplier of x1 to x5. This multiplier is applied to the total value of the Coins collected from the reels.
Bonus Game
Each landed Coin is collected in the associated Bronze, Silver, or Gold pot above the reels. Each time a Coin is collected, there is a chance a Bonus Game is triggered. The three Bonus games are Bronze, Silver and Gold. Bronze is played with only Bronze Coins, Silver with Silver Coins only, and Gold only with Gold Coins. When triggered, 3 spins are awarded and landing new symbols resets the spin count. New Coin symbols are held in place when they hit. The Bonus Games also feature three special symbols – Antonius, Helena, and a Mystery symbol.
- Antonius Multiplier - has an x1 to x5 multiplier, which is added to the current multiplier of the Bonus game. Bonus games start with a multiplier of 1x, which is applied to the total value of Coins. Antonius Multiplier symbols are removed after they land.
- Helena Extra Spin – increases the reset value of the spins by +1. Helena Extra Spins symbols are removed after they hit.
- Mystery Symbols – reveals Antonius, Helena, or a Coin symbol.
Jackpots
Jackpots are only available in the Bonus games and are winnable by landing a certain amount of Coin symbols. For instance, when 10 Coins land in any Bonus game, the 10x the bet Mini Jackpot is awarded. Hitting 15 Coins in any Bonus game awards the 50x the bet Major Jackpot, while the 20,000x the bet Grand Jackpot is awarded for landing 20 Coin symbols in any bonus game. The multiplier does not apply to Jackpot wins, and only the highest achieved Jackpot is awarded.
Rome Fight For Gold Deluxe: Slot Verdict
Rome Fight For Gold Deluxe has kept much of what was available in the previous game and changed a few bits while making the route for potentially achieving the max win clearer. It may be of interest to note that both Rome Fight For Gold Deluxe and Rome Fight For Gold share the same top prize - 20,000x the bet. Only this time, it is a lot more obvious as to how someone may collect this amount. Namely, fill the reels with Coin symbols during any one of the bonus rounds, and bingo, the top prize is yours. It may make one wonder how viable the 20,000x the bet was before in Rome Fight For Gold. Theoretically, if you had 50x Coins on all positions at the same time as an x20 multiplier in the Bonus game, then, okay, that would do it. How probable is that outcome? Maybe only Foxium will ever know the answer.
Rome Fight For Gold Deluxe strips the ambiguity away. It also mixes up the way Bonus rounds are triggered and introduces three different types of them. Gone are Bonus round scatter symbols, to be replaced by random triggers when Coins are collected in pots during the base game. The Gold Bonus is highly sought after in some ways since Gold Coins bear the greatest values. But the positive news is the Grand Jackpot is winnable in all rounds, so hope persists even in the Bronze Bonus game.
Rome Fight For Gold Deluxe felt like a slot which had been crafted after player consultation. As if a group of Rome Fight For Gold enthusiasts had approached the studio with a list of changes they thought would make the game better. There is no indication that actually took place, but Rome Fight For Gold Deluxe did feel like an evolution from the original. Maybe not a gargantuan evolution, but things like the bigger RTP and a clearer path to potential victory are a plus.
Fair
Rome Fight For Gold Deluxe has some things going for it, but its evolution from the original feels more incremental than revolutionary.
