Rabbit Fields: Slot Overview
Ah, bunnies, the bane of the agricultural industry but a darling of the online gambling plantation, return to star in casino game maker Just For The Win's farm slot Rabbit Fields. There is a feeling that fans of the studio's work are going to be all over this, almost as much as haters are going to run for the hills. The reason for this hunch is that Rabbit Fields is a clone/remake of Golden Fields, in a similar way Stellar 7s was, mere months before. This means more spreading wild, indefinite free spins, super free spins, and bonus game pick-me action.
Just For The Win hasn't exactly frothed over with creativity when designing Rabbit Fields' front end, either. Fair enough, when a designer picks farmyard rabbits, they are restricted to what kinds of images to place about the screen. You know, red barns, windmills, sunny skies, crops, fields, that sort of stuff. Then again, there is plenty of room to get creative, too, as ELK Studios showed when making Rabbit Royale, a darker interpretation of the interaction between farmer and bunny, like a heavy version of the Peter Rabbit movie. Darkness has no place in Rabbit Fields, which is typical of the always-sunny attitude prevalent in the farm slot genre.
The next few paragraphs may make for repeat reading since Rabbit Fields' math model and features basically mirror those in Golden Fields. For sure, the high volatility and default 96.13% RTP value remain exactly the same. As does the 29.84% hit rate, dropping wins on Rabbit Fields' 5-reel, 3-row game grid, where 30 paylines are provided for evaluations. Taking part involves picking a stake from options ranging from 20 c to $/€50 per spin.
Rabbit Fields' symbols are an odd mix. From low to high, it has 10-A card royals followed by tomatoes, beets, horseshoes and diamonds doing the job. Hitting a line of 5 matching royals pays out 1 to 2 times the bet, while the remaining symbols pay 2.5 to 10 times the bet for a 5 OAK hit. Wilds are present on all reels, having the same value as the highest paying symbol, and able to substitute for any regular pay.
Rabbit Fields: Slot Features
Rabbit Fields sticks to the same list of features, though some of the names have changed. These are Carrot Sign symbols, Carrot Wilds, a bonus game, free spins, and Super Free Spins.
Carrot Sign Symbols
Above each reel is a Carrot Sign counter. When a Carrot Sign symbol hits, it is added to the counter above it. When a counter has collected 3 Carrot Sign symbols, it activates the Carrots Wild feature. Carrot Signs only appear in the base game and not on reels with active Carrot Wilds. Counters, Carrot Wilds, and remaining reels persist for each bet level.
Carrot Wilds
When triggered, a wild symbol is added to the top of the respective reel. On each following spin, the wild spreads one position down until, eventually, it covers all positions, creating a full reel of wilds. Once a reel is stacked with wilds, it is cleared on the following spin. Carrot Wilds are available in the base game and both free spins rounds. Free spins scatter are visible through Carrot Wilds.
Bonus Game
Collecting a Bonus Token when it hits creates a chance of triggering the bonus game. Only Bonus Tokens collected on the current spin create a chance of triggering the feature. If the bonus game triggers at the same time as free spins, just free spins will be activated. The bonus game is only accessible from the base game. In the Bonus Game, players click items on the screen one at a time to reveal a prize. When three of the same prizes have been revealed, the corresponding reward is paid. This is 15x, 40x, 200x, or 5,000x for winning the Mini, Minor, Major, or Mega prize, respectively.
Free Spins
Free spins symbols appear on reels 2, 3, and 4 in the base game. Landing 3 of them triggers an indefinite number of free spins. The round begins with a win multiplier at x1, increasing by +1 after each spin. Carrot Wilds begin the round on reel three, at the top position. Also, should a regular wild symbol hit, it triggers a Carrot Wild on the respective reel from the triggering position. Wilds do not land on reels with active Carrot Wilds, and when no more Carrot Wilds are in view, the feature ends.
Super Free Spins
Landing 2 free spins symbols in the base game adds 1 point to the Super Free Spins Upgrade Meter. When 20 points have been collected (the meter cannot collect more than 20), free spins are upgraded to Super Free Spins. This means that the next time 3 scatters land, Super Free Spins are awarded. The difference is they have a starting win multiplier of x5, and Carrot Wilds begin on reels 2 and 4 at the top position. The Upgrade Meter persists at each bet level.
Rabbit Fields: Slot Verdict
Can't say there was a huge surprise to see Just For The Win roll out one of its favourite feature sets for a repeat performance. These sorts of extras have appeared for a while now in not only Golden Fields but slots such as Stellar 7s, Amazon Kingdom, Trojan Kingdom, and, at a stretch, Divine Riches Diana and Divine Riches Helios. Someone out there, or someones we should say, must be hovering this stuff up because Just For The Win can't simply be copying its old work and hosing them about the place like a broken sprinkler just for fun.
It's hard to think of much to say about Rabbit Fields' gameplay. It delivers the same quasi-Razor Shark activity through the Carrot Wilds extra, which is intimately linked to both free spins features since when they vanish from view, the round is over. Till then, okay, wilds are able to do their wilding thing, fair dues. Rabbit Fields' max win remains the same as in Golden Fields at 5,000 times the bet, so hopefully, your picks are going well if/when you make it to the bonus game. Not much else to add, really.
Reviewing Rabbit Fields triggered a number of thoughts about the game's maker as well as the game itself. Just For The Win is a team with definite talents; they're not too shabby arranging pixels to paint a pretty picture, for example, and much of its gaming ideas are sound. However, it's hard to see the developer pushing out of the mid-tier to upper mid-tier bracket it appears to be mired in if it insists on taking the easy, low-risk option by marching out the same old stuff time and time again.
Mediocre
Rabbit Fields looks good but the recycling factor doesn’t quite elevate its appeal.
