Ms Robin Hood: Slot Overview

You might have seen Robin Hood hit the reels on numerous occasions, but have you ever seen a Ms Robin Hood before? Okay, maybe if Light & Wonder‘s Lady Robin Hood has flashed up on your playlist, yet by and large, the legendary outlaw generally comes in a male form – as he originally did, when tales begin spreading from the 13th/14th century onwards. Well, we live in the 21st century (at the time of writing), where, for some, gender is a hot (and divisive) topic. Let’s not go into that, but try and keep an open mind as we attempt to take from the rich and give to the poor in NetEnt‘s online slot, Ms Robin Hood.

Many moons ago, not quite the Middle Ages, but in 1973, Walt Disney released the animated film ‘Robin Hood’, where all the characters were animals rather than humans. Robin was a fox, Prince John a lion, and the Sheriff of Nottingham was a wolf. It’s a bit of a classic film and worth watching with kids on a rainy Sunday afternoon, perhaps. The point is, Ms Robin Hood follows in the act of using animals as its characters instead of hoomans. Doing so provides a friendly, borderline comedic touch, which works perfectly in Ms Robin Hood, as it’s a game better suited to gamblers who are not after a raving savage of a game.

Lashed between two gnarly trees in the middle of Sherwood Forest is Ms Robin Hood’s gaming grid. It holds 5 reels, 4 rows, and a counter to the top left displays the number of ways to win. The default number is 1,024 ways, yet symbols can be split, increasing the ways to win value when they are sliced up. With volatility on the higher side, Ms Robin Hood’s RTP at its highest setting is 96%, and the game accepts bets of 10 c to $/€80 a game round.

As for pay symbols, 10 to A card ranks displayed on circular coin-like objects are the lower value lot, while villainous animal characters depicted by birds, wolves, crocodiles, mice, and pigs are the highs. When wilds are on the screen, they substitute for any of the regular paying symbols.

Ms Robin Hood: Slot Features

Ms Robin Hood plays a part in all of the features, from the Robin Nudge, Robin Wild, Random Wilds, and Symbol Splits to free spins; she dips her arrows in each of them.

Robin Nudge & Robin Wild

A partially visible ‘Robin in disguise’ symbol on the leftmost reel is always nudged to be fully stacked and transforms into a Robin Wild symbol. The Robin Wild substitutes for all other symbols except the scatter. A fully visible Robin Wild activates either the Random Wild feature, the Symbol Split feature, or both features in that order:

  • Random Wilds – When triggered, up to 6 arrows land on the reels, transforming the symbols they hit into wilds. Robin Wilds and scatters cannot be transformed into normal wilds.
  • Symbol Split – When triggered, up to 6 arrows land on the reels, transforming the symbols they hit into 2 halves of the same type. Robin Wilds and scatters cannot be split. Halved symbols act the same as non-halved symbols.

Free Spins

When a scatter symbol and a Robin Wild symbol land together in the main game, players win 10 free spins. The Robin Wild locks and stays on the leftmost reel for the duration of the free spins round. When a scatter symbol and a Robin Wild symbol land together on a free spin, players win +5 free spins.

Ms Robin Hood: Slot Verdict

A certain mood or frame of mind, or both, might have to be cultivated for some to enjoy what Ms Robin Hood has to offer, thought the relatively high max win potential of 12,574x the bet is certainly a solid incentive to give it a shot. Charming looks can be deceiving in a slot, but Ms Robin Hood isn’t really one of those. What you see is more or less what you get. A playful reworking of the Robin Hood legends with a lady Robin in the driving seat and animals as characters, strutting their stuff in a jolly, almost village fete environment.

Within the confines of their limitations, Ms Robin Hood’s features were quite pleasant. The actual Ms Robin Hood symbol is the star of the show easily, and it’s nice she always nudges to cover the reel when she hits partially in view. The shower of arrows that follow will either split symbols or chuck a few wilds up there. Since she makes the leftmost reel wild, wins are not assured, but they are encouraged. Furthermore, with Ms Robin Hood locked in place for free spins, which triggered at a fair frequency, flurries of arrows and, therefore, features make the bonus round a busy event.

Ms Robin Hood might be a relatively small game in some ways, yet it’s still enjoyable for what it is. The whole show has been slickly put together; the visual effects couple perfectly with the jolly music to produce a convivial atmosphere, amplified by the cheeky critters and a main character who fires masses of arrows in the face of convention. For the most part, everything works out well, and it’s hard to see Ms Robin Hood being anything but received positively by the players it’s aiming to win over.

Good

Ms Robin Hood brings playful charm and a lively atmosphere to the reels, but its limited features may not win over every player.
