Moon Spell: Slot Overview

Software provider Red Tiger gathers some eye of newt and twirls its wand before setting a cauldron to boil in the witchy online slot Moon Spell. If you’re the sort of person drawn to the occult or the unexplainable, maybe this will be for you. Red Tiger doesn’t do wonders with the theme, though, or Moon Spell’s features, really. Cash prize Moon symbols and an uncomplicated Hold and Respin bonus round aren’t exactly wonders. Hmm, apologies for being a downer at the outset.

Despite being visible in the daytime, the moon is more prominent at night, which is the hour that Moon Spell is played. ‘Sometimes in the afternoon sky the moon would pass white as a cloud, furtive, lusterless, like an actress who does not have to perform yet and who, from the audience, in street clothes, watches the other actors for a moment, making herself inconspicuous, not wanting anyone to pay attention to her.’ As Proust so poetically put it. There’s not a ton of poetry in Moon Spell, however, as it’s not the most richly magical scene ever to flare up an online slot. In general, the background is a bit plain, but the starry sky, audio jingles, and tree silhouettes are pleasant in their way. Aurora effects in free spins do improve the bound round. Possibly the biggest eye-catcher is the list of prize values on display above the reels, for good or for ill.

Beneath the prize list, wrapped in ivy, is a 5×3 gaming grid evaluating winning combinations with the aid of 20 paylines. Players pick a wager of 10 c to $/€10 to start the casting, and as stats, they get a medium-high volatile math model and a top maximum RTP of 95.76%.

For pay symbols, J, Q, K and A make up the lower lot, while jewellery, books, cats, and owls are the high pays. Winning 5 OAK symbol combinations gets you 5 times the bet for the royals or 10 to 40 times the bet for the picture symbols. Wilds pay an astounding 1,000x if a line of 5 of them happen to hit, and they can also be used to substitute any of the regular pays.

Moon Spell: Slot Features

Moon Spell slot – instant win

It’s pretty bread and butter stuff here, where Moon Spell slings out Moon symbol wins, a Hold and Respin round, plus Prize Ladder Bonus Prizes.

Moon Symbols

Moon symbols land in any position, holding a cash prize of 0.5x to 100x the stake. Landing 3 or 4 Moon symbols awards the combined amount of their cash prizes.

Hold and Respin

Landing 5 or more Moon symbols on the reels activates the Hold and Respin bonus round with 3 respins. Moon symbols lock to the reels for respins, including the triggering Moons. Each new Moon symbol landed on the grid resets the spins back to 3. The round ends when no new Moon symbols land for 3 consecutive respins or all positions on the grid have been filled by Moon symbols. The combined total of all Moon symbols is awarded at the end.

Prize Ladder and Bonus Prizes

You’ll find 6 bonus prizes displayed above the reels on the Prize Ladder. During the Hold and Respin bonus, landing 10 or more Moon symbols awards a corresponding prize from the ladder – plus the combined values of all landed Moon symbols. The prizes on the ladder are: 10 Moons – 50x the bet, 11 Moons – 100x the bet, 12 Moons – 200x the bet, 13 Moons – 300x the bet, 14 Moons – 1,000x the bet, and 15 Moons – 5,000x the bet.

Moon Spell: Slot Verdict

Hey ho, that was Moon Spell. Nothing special in many regards. Good for a bit of dipping into the witchy theme, perhaps, not to any great depth, though. The features hardly possess fathoms of depth, as well. Hit 3 or 4 Moon symbols, and get some coins. Alternatively, hit 5 or more Moon symbols and find yourself blasted into the bonus round. There’s not much to the bonus round, either. Simply cross your fingers in the hope that loads of Moons land and lock, preferably 10 or more, to get an additional prize. Get 15 of them, and the top prize is yours. For the record, Moon Spell’s max multiplier is 5,224x the bet.

There’s not a lot else to report on than that. Moon Spell has no twisted intricacies to untangle, no complex rules to decipher, not much of major interest in general. Red Tiger had been on a so-so/okay run around the time of writing, releasing slots like Savannah Pride, Roman Emperors, and Diamond Blitz 2, which hardly blazed, but Moon Spell was in several ways even less exciting. As for magic, the best the game managed to come up with were light novice-level cantrips, maybe sleep spells?

Poor

Moon Spell doesn’t conjure much magic, except for maybe a sleeping spell.
