Part of Slotmill's charm is its ability to take what was already a good game, then, with a bit of creative magic, drop a sequel, which is even better - often following player input. Think of the progression of Money Jar to Money Jar 2 or Coin Quest to the superb Coin Quest 2, for example. The journey from Golden Scrolls to Gods of Glory, by comparison, didn't feel as momentous. Instead of being a courageous leap forward, it's more a semi-confidant sideways wobble to explore a different topic. That might sound harsh, which was not the intention since Slotmill has proven itself to be the sort of studio that, where it leads, gamblers will follow.

So why follow the team this time? Aside from Gods of Glory's handsome appearance, the expanding wild feature arguably works as well here as it did last time. Maybe not in the base game, perhaps, since expanding wilds there are not guaranteed to have a multiplier as they did in Golden Scrolls. However, Gods of Glory looks to counterbalance this by doubling the number of paylines and adding a synced component. It did not mention this in the game rules, but it would appear that expanding wilds in free spins rounds either always get a multiplier or have a far, far greater chance of getting one. The feature tweaks and expanded number of paylines have been joined by an expanded top prize of 15,000x the bet.

That said, utilising only 40 paylines on a large 5x6 setup is kinda weird, and it's hard to shake the feeling that there was a missed opportunity to turn this into a scatter-paying slot rather than sticking with line pays. To be honest, Golden Scrolls wasn't Slotmill's most cutting-edge slot, and neither is Gods of Glory. However, that doesn't mean it's bad, far from it. At this stage, Slotmill games are like pizza; even the not-so-great ones are still satisfying, and whilst Gods of Glory might not be one of those all-time slices you'd cross town to order, it has the ability to toss wild multipliers and synced reels together quite spectacularly.
