Genie's Link&Win 4Tune: Slot Overview
Dragons and genies are not two supernatural/mythological entities you commonly find in one place, and, sorry to say, we aren't going to find them mixing in All For One Studios' slot Genie's Link&Win 4Tune either. However, the two beings are intimately linked here in other ways. What we're trying to say, in a roundabout way, is that Genie's Link&Win 4Tune is a reskin of Dragon's Loot Link&Win 4Tune, which is great news or boo, depending on how you viewed the previous slot's jumble of Link&Win features, quad grids, and so on.
Genies appear in slots on a fairly regular basis, which is fine, but the games they show up in are generally cliched One Thousand and One Arabian Nights-type stuff. You know the drill, pointy slippers, bulbous onion-shape topped buildings, treasure, a genie with blue skin. Not knocking All For One Studios' design talents, they have stuck faithfully to the script, but Genie's Link&Win 4Tune's looks are about as uncreative as its reused features are.
Beneath the outer layer lies a highly volatile math model, available in four different RTP configurations. The default is 96.24%, and at this level, the hit frequency is 31.52%. A 5-reel, 3-row grid matrix holds the base game action, equipped with 25 paylines for evaluating line wins. Base bets go from 10 c to $/€20, and three feature buys come with the game, too.
Flowy, pointy, J-A card ranks are Genie's Link&Win 4Tune's low pay symbols, firing off wins of 3x the bet when a line of 5 hit. All have the same value. Then we've got higher paying pointy toe shoes, scimitars, a jewelled hat, and a rug, awarding players 5 to 10 times their stake for a 5-of-a-kind winning line. A rather spiffing camel appears on the wild symbols, which hit on all reels except the leftmost reel. Wilds substitute for anything except scatters, Coins, or tokens.
Genie's Link&Win 4Tune: Slot Features
Genie's Link&Win brings back the two Link&Win features, a bonus pick, free spins, and a feature buy.
Link&Win General Rules
Genie's Link&Win 4Tune's two hold & win rounds share some common rules. Each round starts with 3 spins that reset when new Coins land on the active 5x3 grids. Landed Coins stick until the round ends. Only blanks or Coins land during them, carrying values of 0.5x to 15x the bet, or the Mini, Minor, or Major Jackpot worth 20x, 100x or 1,000x the bet, respectively. Wins in the feature are added to base game wins, and the rounds end when all positions are filled or spins come to an end. The two Link&Win features cannot trigger on the same spin.
Link&Win 4Tune with Palace Coins
Landing 6 or more Palace Coin symbols triggers this bonus. The triggering Coins are placed on the first grid. The number of active grids depends on the number of Coins players get, and grids may become active one after the other. When at least 8, 20, or 36 Coins have landed, then the second, third, and fourth set of reels become active, respectively. If all positions on an active grid become filled with Coins, then the Grand Jackpot worth 5,000x the bet is additionally awarded.
Enhanced Link&Win 4Tune with Royal Dragon Coins
Landing 6 or more Royal Palace Coin symbols triggers this bonus. The triggering Coins are placed in the same positions on all 4 grids, and all 4 are active till the round ends. If all positions on an active grid get filled with Coins, then the Grand Jackpot worth 5,000x the bet is awarded additionally.
Bonus Pick
Every time a Coin or scatter lands, these symbols are collected by a lamp. When 1-5 Palace Coin symbols or 1-2 scatters appear on the screen, the Bonus Pick may trigger. If it does then players win 1x the bet, 10x the bet, 10 free spins, Link&Win 4Tune, or the Enhanced Link&Win 4Tune.
Free Spins
Landing 3, 4, or 5 chest scatters awards 10 free spins as well as a cash payout of 2x, 10x or 50x the bet, respectively. Before free spins start, players pick one of the 4 grids, though free spins are played on all 4 gaming grids. Tokens land on all 4 grids and are collected when they hit. At the end of free spins, the selected grid's total prize is awarded. If the selected grid collected the same or more tokens than the other 3 grids (not combined), their values are awarded as well.
Feature Buy
From here, players can buy free spins for 35x the bet, the Link&Win 4Tune for 60x the bet, or the Enhanced Link&Win 4Tune for 140x the bet.
Genie's Link&Win 4Tune: Slot Verdict
The first time this set of features turned up, they weren't too bad. Picking a room in the free spins round put a novel spin on things, and the wide variety of features came over pretty well. Sadly, things have gotten a bit stale the second time around, and Genie's Link&Win 4Tune was less enjoyable to review than the Dragon's Loot one. It's not a terribly made game, there's no furious finger-pointing going on in All For One's direction, but it just looks cliched, plays the same as before, and there was nothing remotely interesting to get excited about.
Still, for some 4 grid entertainment, Genie's Link&Win 4Tune does things others do not, its parent slot excluded. Picking a favourite grid for free spins adds to the suspense - like watching a horse race, is your grid going to win the token collection contest and gain full glory, or get pipped at the post and award wins from just the one matrix? Having 4 matrices feels a bit superfluous in the Link&WIn features, though, at the same time, the setup is novel. It is possible to collect Coin values from additional screens, yet the Coin values are not massive, and if they'd been condensed onto one grid, the entertainment would have been roughly the same. It's suggestive but not 100% clear that the Mega prize can be won more than once in a single bonus round by filling more than one grid, and since 15,000x the bet is the max win figure, it would appear this may be the case.
Genie's Link&Win 4Tune performs its duty as a cliched reskin to a tee, meaning it successfully reuses the same feature list as before while presenting it in a low creative outer layer. If that gets your blood running, great, but the game failed to spike much interest during testing.
Mediocre
Genie’s Link&Win 4Tune’s lack of excitement came about by a combination of repeat features wrapped in a cliched outer skin.
