Things had been relatively quiet on the Clusterbuster front for a while since Year-Round Riches Clusterbuster came out at the back end of 2023, and an attractive, big potential, rather unique-looking slot it was. Egypt Clusterbuster is, as you might have guessed, an Ancient Egyptian grid slot, one which drops big ol’ wild symbols on the grid, at times releasing flying random wild symbols, occasionally with multipliers. There are a few features on offer, but many have to be unlocked, one at a time, until they are perpetually available.

It’s Egypt, so prepare your eyes for impressive statues, pyramids, scarabs, and so forth. Almost as impressive, if you’re new to Clusterbuster, is the sheer size of the 9×9 gaming grid sitting in the middle of the screen. Other than that, Egypt Clusterbuster puts up the usual Ancient Egyptian optics; quite nicely done, it should be said, but not exactly a brand new, never-before-seen tomb, as such.

Egypt Clusterbuster is a medium-high volatile game where the most desirable RTP value is 95.71%. The return actually drops a little bit to 95.69% when buying features rather than betting on individual spins. Base bets still need to be selected, and the range available here is 10 c to $/€10 per spin.

Winning clusters in Egypt Clusterbuster are formed when 5+ matching symbols are connected in horizontal and/or vertical directions. Ten to Ace card ranks are the game’s lower value symbols, while 4 classic icons of Ancient Egypt are the 4 high pays. Clusters involving 5 matching symbols pay 0.1 to 1 times the bet, and the biggest clusters of 20+ OAK are worth 3 to 50 times the bet. Wilds appear in various forms, and they all substitute any of the regular paying symbols. The symbols that are part of winning combinations disappear from the board and make way for new symbols to tumble in. Chain Reactions continue in this way until no new win is formed.

Egypt Clusterbuster: Slot Features

The features to find, or unlock rather, are chain reaction wins, the Clusterbuster concept, Ancient Orb Progress, Ancient Orb features, free spins, and two feature buys.

Clusterbuster

A 3×3 sized cluster of inactive locked tiles is present in the middle of the grid. The outer tiles of the inactive cluster unlock when winning clusters are adjacent to them. Breaking all outer tiles opens the cluster and releases its prize. Broken parts of the cluster reset at the start of each spin.

Ancient Orbs Progress

Each of the game’s orb modifiers is represented by an orb above the grid. All orbs except the green orb are locked at the start of a session. Releasing a scarab in the 3×3 Clusterbuster unlocks the next modifier in line. When a new modifier unlocks, it triggers on the next spin. During that spin, a new modifier cannot be unlocked, and at the end of it the next scarab is encased in the Clusterbuster, ready for release in the same way. All unlocked modifiers may randomly trigger on future spins, but progress is saved per bet level. More than one unlocked modifier may trigger on the same spin. Orb unlocking goes Blue – Red – Purple. After all orbs are unlocked, the free spins scarab is encased in the Clusterbuster and is not replaced after it activates. The Ancient Orbs are:

• Green Orb – when triggered, any pay symbol may land as a 3×3 super symbol. All super symbols that land will be of the same type. Up to 3 super symbols may land on a spin.
• Blue Orb – when triggered, up to 3 blue Super Wilds, 3×3 in size, land on the spin.
• Red Orb – when triggered, a 3×3 red Super Wild lands. After participating in a win, the Red Super wild turns into 9 scarabs, which fly over the reels and land in random positions as wilds.
• Purple Orb – when triggered, a 3×3 Super Wild with a win multiplier of x2 to x10 lands. After participating in a win, the Super Wild turns into 9 scarabs that fly over the reels and land in random positions as wilds, holding the same win multiplier as the Super Wild. The multiplier applies to all wins in which the wilds participate. If more than one wild is part of a win, multiplier values are added up.

Free Spins

Each time the free spins scarab is released from the Clusterbuster, 10 free spins are awarded. The Clusterbuster does not appear in free spins, and the round cannot be retriggered. During free spins, there is an increased chance of triggering orb modifiers.

Feature Buy

From the feature buy, players can get 10 free spins for 90x the bet or any Super Wild for 20x the bet.

Egypt Clusterbuster: Slot Verdict

For a cluster paying slot held on an enormous grid, gaming spaces don’t come much bigger than those in Red Tiger’s Clusterbuster line. In saying that, 9 positions are covered by the Clusterbuster block, knocking out some of the space which could have been used to create wins. At least, in the base game, busting goes like this and has done for a while. At least since Red Tiger created Thor’s Lightning way back when, maybe earlier. However, while that game has similarities, it is not an official Clusterbuster slot. Like Blobsters Clusterbuster and Dragons Clusterbuster, the need to unlock features is present in Egypt Clusterbuster. This is a technique Red Tiger utilises quite a lot, and while it adds to the anticipation element when removing the outer tiles of the Clusterbuster block, some players might not have time for that.

These feature unlocks generally don’t take a huge amount of time to work through, though there are no guarantees, of course. And once unlocked, the available features are there forever (locked to bet levels), meaning they can trigger at any time. Ancient Orb effects are quite good. For starters, you get a 3×3 sized pay symbol before progressing onto 3×3 wild symbols, which are technically able to connect a significant number of clusters, especially if 3 decide to hit. From there, the Orbs get even better, going from wild symbols spreading across the grid to having a multiplier added not only to the 3×3 Super Wilds but to those wilds fluttering to other positions. The flying wilds were actually quite nice.

Egypt Clusterbuster doesn’t compete with the last CB game, Year-Round Riches, in terms of potential riches, but it is able to knock out wins of up to 6656.7x the bet, so it can’t be accused of being stingy in max payouts department. However, it can’t boast of having creatively picked and presented subject matter, being a dime-a-dozen Ancient Egyptian slot. But this slot topic is popular, and the gameplay isn’t bad, so keyboard tomb raiders looking to bust clusters might find the odd wave of entertainment here.
