4.06 Casting Call – “I Wish I Was the Moon”

January 26, 2011 in 4.06 I Wish I Was the Moon, Episodes, True Blood

Another season 4 casting call has appeared on IMDb for the character of Mavis, a young woman dressed 1930′s style:

[MAVIS] Female, African American, 20-30 years old. She is a sad-eyed girl dressed in a modest 1930s dress. RECURRING GUEST STAR. Must speak with a Cajun accent.

This episode will be titled “I Wish I Was the Moon” and is written by Raelle Tucker. Most likely, the song of the same name by Neko Case will feature somewhere in the episode.

The lyrics are most certainly worth a read…

“I Wish I Was the Moon” – Neko Case

Chimney falls and lovers blaze
Thought that I was young
Now I’ve freezing hands and bloodless veins
As numb as I’ve become

I’m so tired
I wish I was the moon tonight

Last night I dreamt I had forgotten my name
‘Cause I had sold my soul but I woke just the same
I’m so lonely
I wish I was the moon tonight

God blessed me, I’m a free man
With no place free to go
I’m paralyzed and collared-tight
No pills for what I fear

This is crazy
I wish I was the moon tonight

Chimney falls and lovers blaze
Thought that I was young
Now I’ve freezing hands & bloodless veins
As numb as I’ve become

I’m so tired,
I wish I was the moon tonight

How will you know if you found me at last
‘Cause I’ll be the one, be the one, be the one
With my heart in my lap
I’m so tired, I’m so tired
I wish I was the moon tonight.

I dare not speak aloud what this song choice seems to be referencing; I am superstitious and already incredibly paranoid about what Ball may do with a storyline I consider absolutely integral to the series.

Suffice to say, the similarities are uncanny.

Casting 4.03 – If you love me, why am I dyin’?

January 4, 2011 in 4.03 If you love me why am I dyin'?, Episodes, True Blood

Well, well. The episode title alone is enough to make me squeal with glee.

[ANTONIA] 20s to 40s. FIERCE. Must speak fluent Spanish. First appears in episode 2 and then again in episodes 3,4,5 and 6.

[VAMPIRE] This leering vampire is caught on tape feeding on a woman. He’s desperate to escape the dire consequences…8 lines, 2 scenes (11)

[PAUL MCCLATCHY] This slick, professional-looking prospector in a suit works for an energy company and makes Tommy an intriguing offer…2 speeches & 4 lines, 1 scene (37)

[FANGBANGER] This hot, stupid man enjoys being bitten by Pam and shouts out commands to her. He’s disappointed when she takes off…3 lines, 1 scene (16)

[CAMERA OPERATOR] In his 20s, righteous and bearded, a somewhat dimwitted yokel, he’s seen on a grainy YouTube video, making underground films of vampires feeding, thus entrapping them. The camera operator loves being on camera to promote his cause of warning America about vampires…1 speech & 1 line, 1 scene (11)

[CONSERVATIVE F*CK] A smug conservative in a bow tie, he passionately debates Nan Flanagan on the air…1 speech & 1 line, 1 scene (20)

[YOUNG WOMAN] This pudgy young woman is seen on a grainy YouTube video, being attacked by a vampire…2 lines, 1 scene (10)

Is it me or does it sound like vampires feeding on humans has just become extremely illegal?

Thanks again to Melodie at Bookies Love True Blood Facebook for the heads up.

Neil Hopkins has been cast as Claude – Claudine’s stripperlicious and extremely vain brother.

Book readers will recall Claude and Claudine were two thirds of triplet siblings – and that Claude was described in the books as dark haired like his sisters.

While True Blood Claudine is also dark haired, I can’t help but notice the striking resemblance a blonde Neil Hopkins bears to this guy:

Speaking of striking resemblances, Chris Butler (The Good Wife, 24) has been cast as Emory, “a prissy and conservative shape-shifter with his own agenda“.

I don’t want to call this yet based on such scant information…but he looks like him. He sounds like him – not so much prissy and conservative, but certainly with his own agenda.

A female shape shifter character involved in cage fighting has already been cast, and many here felt that Tommy Mickens’ story line last season was a clear set up for He Who Shall Not Be Named.

Holy fucking hell…could it BE him???

The original casting call for Emory was for a man in his 50′s – but we know they’ve thrown curve balls before when casting key characters, and Ball himself has openly admitted to fudging casting calls in order to throw bookies off the scent and keep major plot points in doubt.

Alan Ball: Well obviously, for the stuff in the novels, um, you’re not going to be able to keep secret. I have been surprised by how quickly audition sides for scenes show up on the internet. You know, I understand that people are excited about the show, and they want to feel like they’re a part of it. But I have taken to – we are actually, you know – we’re writing scenes that don’t exist…in an effort to actively mislead people…

I am actually putting information in those sides that is never going to be on the show. And sometimes, it goes directly opposed to what’s gonna be on the show. Just because, I feel like the element of surprise is really an important part of this particular story. So…whatever ends up on the internet from our casting sessions, audition sides – just let there be a caveat that we know people are posting it, and we are actively planting misinformation.

LOOK at the guy! Don’t know what I’m talking about? Picture him in genie pants…or perhaps picturing him in PURPLE might help.

I’m not necessarily rooting for this either, by the way. But a guy who looks like that being cast as “a shifter with an agenda”, while Mississippi and most probably Louisiana each find themselves with indisposed monarchs and ripe for political picking??

Has to make you wonder.
