Sookie is no longer Mahn…SHE. IS. MINE.

And let us all heave a collective sigh of relief for that.

Another day, another True Blood promo in which we see Sookie entertaining Bill on her porch when Eric arrives, season 3 finale BAMF style – to inform Sookie that “everyone who claims to love her” – yes, we’re looking at YOU, BILL – had given up on her.

We also see Sookie telling Bill that she’s had it up to her eyeballs with his shitty surprises that she always ends up wishing she never knew about, THANKYOUVERYMUCH.

What else is new in here? Bill popping fang at some woman who wonders aloud what he’s going to do her – no prizes for guessing THAT one correctly, peeps. A fireball being thrown in Doucheland (watch out for the gauze! Don’t they know that shit is highly flammable?). Sam and Andy are having a face off, with Sam looking like he’s been spending yet more quality time with his good mate Jack. Alcide giving Sookie a bear hug on her porch….and Sookie standing on what may be Bill’s porch; arms folded, jaw set and looking like she’s about ready to read him the riot act. While Bill, of course, throws his very best bitch face in her general direction.

Happy times….happy times!

Finally! A HD version:

Is she how Bill finds out about the new coven in town? And isn’t she supposed to show up one day looking like a librarian, and then the next she’s all hot mama? And is she supposed to go to Fangtasia?

Holy crap – perhaps Bill is really involved with the curse on Eric?

Ok, as much as I am happy to hear Eric say that she is his, it’s a bit creepy…didn’t anyone ask her, she seemed scared when he said it, and not ‘good scared’ but ‘scared scared’.

And I did a little “happy dance” when eric said it to her. She’ll get around! :)

Also I’m soooooooo happy she says all that to Bill! Sweet!

Sookie will use the ‘you’re being High handed’ Eric card like she does when he offers up the only real way for her to survive in his world. She is now to well known to just be floating around without protection.

Maybe Bill is involved in the curse, trying to removed Eric from the protection position to move himself back in. He would be well aware that Sookie is in need of ‘protection’ and who better in his mind then himself

    Willowbella Reply:

I kind of felt there may be some creative sound editing with that line. The “Sookie” sounds softer and might have come from elsewhere as we don’t see him say that. I think he may be saying “SAY you are mine”…which is why she looks nervous and anxious, as if she has a decision to make. Either way, he’s using the same tone he did with “invite me in now” in S3 so I think (like Hime said above) he is trying to make it clear to her that she has to do this for him to help keep her safe.

It does look like Daisy, who looks very satisfied with Bill. I’m so glad Sookie saw that. Do you think this happens the night she get’s back? I’m wondering if (a) she’s still wearing the blue dress when she comes back from DL, (b) showers and Eric surprises her and she grabs the pink slip to cover herself, (c) puts on the blue denim dress and yellow sweater and catches Bill in the act, and (d) puts on the green hoodie and opens the door to Bill? No, I’m missing something. This must be from the first 3 episodes. There are way too many wardrobe changes for our Sookie.

I have a feeling that’s edited to look as if Eric, Bill, and Sookie are on the porch. I have a feeling that Eric scene will be a separate scene but I could definitely be wrong. It’s just weird because like you said, it seems as if he catches her off guard later. And if she’s already seen him on the porch, why would she ask later if it was a dream?

I think that Eric “everyone gave up on you scene” is when he’s leaving her house after he’s caught her coming out of the shower.

    [Reply]

    Ashley Reply:

I think Eric might actually be there on the porch, because Sookie and Bill are both looking at someone, and Eric doesn’t appear to be wearing the gray t shirt he’s wearing some sort of black jacket. She could still be surprised he’s there later when she’s in the pink thing, becuase maybe she doesn’t know he bought the house for her yet so doens’t know why he’s in her hous.e, which is why she thinks it’s a dream

The other possibility is you’re right VL, Eric shows up later and as he’s leaving that’s when he says this “everyone gave up on you…” line. But he would have had to take off his jacket.

    [Reply]

    Mony Reply:

I think it’s strange that he says “even Bill Compton” with Bill there, it could have used another expression so i don’t know if it’s the same scene or just maybe he just said that when Bill left, like he waited for Bill to leave..

OMG what if Portia followed Bill who maybe run to Sookie just righ after she came back? Becouse Sookie’s face is….priceless! LOL

Correction, Eric directly looks into her face and tells her ‘you are mine’. Far better and hotter than walking around proclaiming it to others.

Breaking up sucks? No way! Breaking up with a loser like Bill is fun!! Come on HBO stop making this series be about Bill and Sookie. No one cares about them!

I think Bill was trying to finagle his way back into Sookie’s life before Eric came over and told her how much Bill actually ‘cared’ when she was away!

And I will pitch a fit if Sookie actually shows signs of taking him back on that scene on the porch and if it’s Eric that stops her. Again! I will really throw something at the TV :D

Was Tara trying to stake Eric?

Alcide and Sookie snuggling was cute.

Very true Sheldon, this is out of context so we have no clue what is really going down. I think it all has to do with what Pam also says to her, somebody needs to claim her if she wants to be safe.

I think it’s not even how he says it, but the face that he is making that people are reacting to and watching it again, we don’t even know if he is saying it at that moment, if you watch his mouth it doesn’t sound like it’s coming out as slow as he said it. So might be his voice from another scene used during that particular moment, they have done similar things before in their trailers. Either that or just the way it’s edited makes it look different.

    [Reply]

    Dee Reply:

Well if she wasn’t around for a year then that means she wasn’t around to pay the taxes on her home and would’ve lost it so someone buying it would be for her so she wouldn’t lose her home.

And I have the feeling that Eric is the one who bought her house. Eric said that everybody gave up on her, even Bill. If Bill gave up on her, he wouldn’t have bought the house, now would he?
I don’t see it as a bad thing, Eric owning Sookie’s house as long as it’s only this season.
The only thing is that I don’t want Eric to use it against her, like saying “I give you the house if you say you’re mine”. That would be totally OOC.

    [Reply]

    Shau'ri Reply:

That’s what I mean. I love Eric, but who knows… And she won’t be safe in that house, because if a vamp owns it then oter vamps don’t need the invite to enter.
Also, where the hell was Jason? Getting bitten or something probably. It’s his family house too, so why doesn’t he care?

    [Reply]

    Freyja Reply:

He probably gave up on her too. And I don’t think he has that kind of money to save Sookie’s house, he probably used every dime he had to help the inbreeds of Hot Shot.
And Eric must realise that him owning Sookie’s house is not safe. If this is indeed what happens, I think he has every intention of giving Sookie the deed to her house before the amnesia. I just hope that he will get to do that. But I doubt it, Bill tried to enter Sookie’s house, when he was on her porch. She was wearing the same hoodie with AE on the porch.

    [Reply]

    Mony Reply:

I think if Eric owns her house now he had all the intentions to give it back to Sookie the day of her return to BT (becouse seems to me from this little promo that he is the only one who didn’t give up on her and was sure of her returning) BUT all the Amnesia thing happens and maybe he hadn’t the time, so that’s why Bill is able to enter the house becouse a vampire still owns it.

I know Eric cares about Sookie but he wants what he wants…maybe he thinks the house is a big enough gesture. I cannot really make out from the blurry promo, but it looks like Sookie is in Bill’s house twice. Once in the green sweater, and once in the mustard cardigan. Why the hell does she keep going back to him!

I hope that scene where Eric says ‘you are mine’ is a dream. Sookie looks terrified of him. Or it’s real and this is what Alexander Woo meant when he said Sookie was terrified of Eric before he got Amnesia.

Where the hell are Arlene and Terry. They got their own waiting sucks promo but they don’t seem to turn up in these things. Where is Pam?

I wonder if Eric realises that he hinted that he loved Sookie. Those who claim to love you gave up. if he follows that with I didn’t, he’s kinda saying I really love you because I didn’t give up. Okay I might be reading too much into that, but then I’m good at that.

    [Reply]

    Willowbella Reply:

I thought that too Vickie. :) It also ties in with the, “If you really love her that is” from last season. I thought Eric was simultaneously questioning Bill’s love for Sookie and hinting at his own in that scene too.

I feel like she’s softened towards Bill in the S4 clips but not in a I’m-going-to-forgive-you-AGAIN kinda way. Seemed more like she was just over the anger stage in relation him. Feels to me like she;s fairly resigned and accepting of it it being over and ready to move on. Does seem like she’s not got blinders on anymore. She appears more questioning/suspicious of him, which is fair enough and probably wise. Over all, Sookie seems a little more mature, smarter and warier this season. Which can only be a good thing.

Well she did basically say she never wanted to see him again. As we can see from the promos, that’s not happening. But I don’t get the impression that it’s going to lead up to Sookie saying that she forgives him enough to date him again.

I was thinking about this in regards to the Woo interview (link in forum), about how Bill staying in Bon Temps rather than going to Peru heightens the drama. If Bill really vanished from the scene, we wouldn’t have the joy of watching Sookie discover all this stuff about Bill that I think is going to be revealed – that he’s not the southern gentleman he pretended to be, that he appears to be involved with more than one human woman at a time, etc. Bill has to stick around so that his layers can be peeled back, with Sookie and the audience as a witness to it. I can hardly wait.

Does Sookie really care if she dates a southern gentlemen? I don’t think she really cares about him being a southern gentlemen at all the only reason she fallen for him because she can’t read his mind. Sookie alway knew that what Bill was and did not care until she found out that he did watch her get beat up so he can get his blood into her. Bill not evil and he not good.

The reason why Bill did not go to Peru is for Bill to be on the show. I do see Sookie forgiving Bill and she will not forget the pain. I do see AB putting Sookie back with Bill not this season.

Of course it’s important that he is a Souther Gentleman. Sookie’s background is VERY important when it came to her choices and Bill was everything she thought she should give a chance to. That’s becouse of the way she always saw Gran. Bill was what everyone in the South would call “parfect match” and Eric is “outrageous” OTOH. Its’ only with the last book that we discover that even Gran was a little too much “adventurous”.
Sookie also loved the silence after 24 years which is of course ONE and not the only. reason she fell in love with Bill but you cannot forget where she came from.

She will forgive Bill but she won’t forget the pain and i don’t think they will be the end game in TB. AT.ALL.

It’s not about the souther gentlemen. Bill was once a souther gentlemen but he became a vampire.

People do not fall in love for others just because it is “convenient”, it is clear that Sookie was interested primarily by Bill because she could not read your mind, but then to fall in love only for that? then, if that were the case, she had fallen in love with Sam first

On True Blood they made it very clear that Sookie fallen for Bill because she thought peace and quite. Tara on the show knows the real truth why Sookie has gotten involved with him. I don’t think Sookie really was in love with Bill and she talk herself into loving Bill. The first show that Anne has fallen for Stephen the way Anne look like woman fallen in love with a guy. Anne not that good of actress.

I doubt Sookie would ever take him back becausee even if she forgives him she won’t ever be able to trust him with her heart again…she tried to trust him time and time again as she found out more and more about him she did not like. Even if she were to see that he really does love her down the line, it will be different because Sookie will not only have moved on, but also she will have learned from her mistakes and will not want to risk her heart in that way, IMO.

    Krtmd Reply:

Oh, I do think it mattered in the beginning. Think back to when Sookie first meets Bill and saves him from the Ratts in the parking lot. He’s so vampiric and dark in that scene, and he approaches her like she’s a fangbanger, taking about drinking blood from her femoral artery. Sookie responds that she’s a lady and all that. Shortly thereafter we have gentleman farmer Bill, asking to call on her, etc. This persona was his “in” with Sookie, but it wasn’t the true Bill, and as he reveals more of his true nature this season, Sookie will have her eyes open to it.

There is a difference between forgiving and forgetting. Maybe someday a long time from now she will forgive Bill. However, Sookie will never ever forget how he humiliated and made complete fool of her. This isn’t something that can/will be forgiven over night. He showed her what she wanted to see, what she thought she wanted. It goes to the part in the promo where she says something along the lines of, “The more I find out about you, the less I wish I knew.” It’s like the blinders have come off, and Bill is finally acting like he really is.

I noticed Sookie wearing the green zip-up again. She’s been wearing it in 3 clips so far. This one where she looks upset with Bill and he looks annoyed. In one where Bill pushes her against the wall and gets in her face. And in the one where she and AE go in for a kiss. They also all seem to be on Sookie’s porch. So clearly this is a sequence. I’m not sure which order they go in but I can’t wait to see it. I’m thinking either Sookie and Eric kiss/almost kiss and Bill interrupts and gets mad or Bill upsets Sookie first and Eric comforts her. Either way I like it. :)

Now that he knows she has feelings for him (she responded to his kiss and gave him blood even after being attacked by Bill) there’s no way he’s going to just back off. He wants what he wants when he wants it, and he goes after it…that’s always one of the qualities that I’ve admired about Eric. I think the scenes with the girl in his office is reversed. It should go “what are you going to do with me” as she’s looking away, then she turns around and starts unbuttoning her shirt. Then bill shows his fangs. Or it is two separate days. Bill has his brown jacket on twice in clips, and a black shirt in two clips. Is this the girl he’s having sex with in his office chair? Heck, maybe this is his new girlfriend and chair sex/blood feeding is a daily thing?

Even Bill has thr blood of a donor in book 2 but he didn’t have sex with her, Sookie was in the other room while he was feeding, i don’t think he f*** the donor LOL
In TB is not established yet, is a very erotic thing to feed but you have to be “into” the biting and “into” the person to actually have and act of sex or otherwise both Russell and Eric would have had sex with Sookie at Fangtasia in front of Bill and Pam, lmao!!
Eric was feeding from the donor in S2 but he didn’t bang her on the couch, he had sex with Yvetta but she had no marks of his biting and the same with Pam. I think is a very personal choice both SSN and TB, but of course not matter what behind the feeding there’s an element of eroticism which is very different to atually have sex.

I think as Sookie arrives homes, Bill and Eric feel her. Bill awakes suddenly in his coffin, and rushes over to her front porch (Nuts promo). Then Eric arrives a few mins later. I’m sure Eric and Bill have words and that’s when Eric says the bit about everyone gave up on her even Bill Compton. And as Sookie comprehends his words, she looks down realizing he is right.

Yes, I agree, Eric is saying in a roundabout way He loves her. I dont think he will hold over Sookie’s head about the house. I figure he will say that is his way of repaying his debt to her for helping with RE and/or saving his life by dragging him back into the bar and giving him her blood. Repairing it…he will say something only Eric would say about its appearance.

He killed Talbot for his personal vendetta in a very shakespearian theme…BUT you didn’t see him going around killing like Bill did. It was in the season 2 commentary that someone said that Eric and Godric have feed most of their time with on the battle fields of dead soldiers….

I doubt Eric gives a damn about human justice. He is a vampire and he is also a Sheriff. As a Sheriff he has the right and duty to punish those who break the vampire laws. He wasn’t going to kill Royce, but Royce did provoke him and he went berserk. Eric is no cuddly pet.
But, unlike Bill, he kills quickly and he doesn’t play with his victims like a cat does with a mouse. Nor he humiliates his victims before killing them. At least, that’s what we were shown so far.
Vampires are not mass murders by default. Even before Tru:Blood, they could take a sip from humans and then glamour them into believing it never happened. They could feed without killing.
And even if they kill, there is a big difference between killing fast (like Godric did with Gabe, or with Eric’s soldiers) and taking pleasure in a slow torture.

How do we know that Eric can’t punish any humans who harm vampires? We don’t know everything that a sheriff is able to do or not do. Well human morals says it’s wrong to kill anyone. We also don’t know yet what the law is on TB, and if killing vampires automatically means you are put in jail. They don’t even have equal rights, so if they are not seen as equals then the courts might handle it differently. Plus I’m sure there would only be human jurors, and in a town where many might agree with them, it’s likely others would’ve seen it differently.

I also don’t know how much Eric knew of what Malcolm, Diane and Liam had done. Did he know they killed a human and had her hanging upside down in the bathroom?

We also can’t forget that the Magister brought an innocent human to Bill’s trial, as his punishment. So this is what I mean, by not caring what happens to a human. I can’t imagine the Magister being appalled by humans captured in Eric’s basement. He thought it was perfectly acceptable to take a 17 year old innocent human who didn’t do anything to any vamp, no reason for her to be punished and then to turn her. He also didn’t care for Bill to make it easier on her by glamoring her.

My point is that I can’t see the Magister really caring about what happens to humans. He pretty much expressed this and showed this at the trial.

    Mony Reply:

Sorry LLE, but it was not established in TB that vampires don’t punish humans if they harm their kin…in fact Eric told Sookie in 2×03 about Lafayette that others would have done worse than him and even Bill knew that. I don’t know where this thing that Eric doesn’t punish humans if he has to came from, really. It was established quite the opposite in the show. Even the Magister used Jessica, a human.

    Dee Reply:

Eric only broke vamp law when he agreed to sell the V for QSA. He did not break the law though when it came to capturing humans who hurt other vamps or sold V. If they would’ve showed up when Royce was down there for example and found out he killed 3 vamps, then they would also be against Royce for what he did. I can’t imagine the Magister having any sympathy for a human who dared to kill 3 humans.

Now if you look at Royce and his buddies actions, human law does not allow the killing of anyone and I think even vamps are included, unless maybe they were being attacked. But that goes even for humans, self-defense is different. Human morals are very different, and you don’t go killing anyone just because you don’t like them. So I don’t think Royce had any right to do what he did. They just hate anyone who is different, and take their hatred too far. They also don’t like homosexuals and look how they treated Lafayette.

Yep, I believe Sookie will be struck by Bill’s change of attitude. I hope she will realize that the whole southern gentleman vampire mourning for his humanitay was another act by the mendacious Mr.Compton.
I doubt Sookie won’t have any moment of weakness, though. To her, only a few hours have passed and I fully expect her to still feel something for Bill. But I bet the rose colored glasses are gone, finally.
And Bill… of course he had every right to move on with his life and I won’t blame him for it, but is a year enough to forget “your miracle”? Maybe it is, who am I to judge? ;)

But I thought Bill “had nothing left to live for?” Apparently, he found quite a few things to keep him occupied in his “Miracles” absence. ;)

    [Reply]

    Dee Reply:

It will all depend on how long after Sookie was gone that Bill moved on. Then again this is a little different than a regular break up where a year is more than enough time to move on. Sookie is missing because of him, it was his secrets being revealed that made her leave, and I don’t think anyone is going to know anything about where she might be. So moving on when the person you love is missing and not knowing what could’ve happened to them and you being the reason they are missing, makes somebody moving on a bit different. Another big thing is that she is going to come back and find a completely different person than the one she was with. After the S3 finale reveals, that alone made her think “who is this person” it makes you question everything about the person. Now she will come back and find someone who went from low-key and old fashioned to a person who pimped his house and all modern. Someone who wanted to get away from other vamps and live a “normal” life to somebody who is working with the AVL to help change the public image of vamps, he has become like a politician. This is so different from the person she fell in love with ,so she’ll wonder if this is the real Bill and finally seeing who he really is.

It’s so interesting that for everyone it will be a year and for Sookie just a few hours. She hasn’t changed in that short period of time, but she will come back to finding a whole new person in Bill. You know when you see someone you haven’t seen in a while and they are just a completely different person, you don’t feel as comfortable around them anymore. The good thing with Eric is that he will still be the same person.

    [Reply]

    Ashley Reply:

Yeah Dee, it’s funny how different Bill is acting after his miracle only being gone a year, while Eric is completely consistent with how he’s always been with what we’ve seen from the promos. With Eric at what you see is what you get. With Bill, who knows?

I think it’s fine that Bill would have moved on relationship wise but what I find disturbing is how different he is acting. Looks like a new persona for Bill.

    [Reply]

    Dee Reply:

That really is the most disturbing part. Once Sookie finds out a year has passed, I’m sure she can see why he would move on well I think she will not so sure about that lol. But what will bother her most is how much he has changed.

With Eric, what you see is what you get. He doesn’t put on an act well only when he has to like he did with RE lol.

actually.. sice Sookie decided to leave with Claudine at that time ( after she just had a major fight with Billy ” The Mendacious Mr. Comptom) she was simply running away from a problem instead of facing the problem.. same as she did whe Gran died & she ran to Billy’s house on TB in her white night gown..

Exactly. And I’m not talking about just having her around as a romantic relationship. Without his “miracle,” what does Bill revert to? After all, he LURVES Sookie. What does he do without her? We don’t know yet if Bill or Eric knew that Sookie was in fairy land. Bill would be the most likely to assume that knowing what he knows, but we won’t know for sure until the first episode airs. Bill has every right to move on with his life, and I personally wish he’d keep moving on far, far away from Sookie, though I know that’s not going to happen. However, I have a feeling that this scene will play out similar to the scene from the end of last season’s finale where Bill will arrive first and start spewing his usual BS about how he missed Sookie and everything was horrible, blah, blah, she’s his miracle, blah blah, cue overwrought cello music. Then Eric will show up with “the fucking truth” and expose Bill’s hypocritical bull. I think this is an important distinction to make and one that alot of people are overlooking.

Bill wasn’t in faery – his “walk on water” was clearly demonstrating that he COULD’NT GET IN THERE. The pond is the portal – and Bill couldn’t pass through it.

Everyone got so hung up on the Jesus symbolism that they completely missed what was shown as clear as day…that Bill was locked out of Fae. Her blood only got him so far…to that halfway place where Sookie had been having conversations with Claudine.

But at the end of the day, Billy was blocked from the real “Faeland”?? cool beans :-)

I think the place where Bill went (assuming that his vision/experience was real and not his fake PoV of course) was the same Sookie went in the hospital scene: a sort of a portal, or halfway, but only if you dive into the pond you get to Real Fairyland. In fact, when Sookie first met Claudine, the other fairies escaped by diving into the pond.

Now if he knows Sookie is in FL or figures it out, in a way I find this worse. He knows how time is different there, so he should figure that if she goes away for a short time just to clear her head, that for her it will only be a very short time although for them it is a year. If you break up with someone, a year later to have moved on is natural. But if that person goes missing, I would think somebody would be distraught that they caused their disappearance and worried about what might’ve happened to them. I guess I have to watch the show before really judging and seeing what they think happened to her and how long after they move on.

There’s a lot of “creative editing” going on in this promo.
The “Sookie, you. are. mine” audio is played over other stuff apart from one second at the very end where it LOOKS like eric is finishing the sentence, but I’m pretty sure he’s not actually saying “mine”. They’ve cleverly arranged it so that you don’t notice it. His face gives the whole speech a more angry tone that it doesn’t have if you only listen to the audio. It’s intense and sort of urgent but not really angry… I guess he gets fangy at another point during their conversation, or maybe it’s a whole other scene, who knows.

when Eric says everyone give up on Sookie – even billy compton.

It makes me wonder if Eric could feel Sookie through his blood?
Eric is a 1,000 yo vampire and even a drop of his blood forged a tie to Sookie that bill freaked out over. Maybe Eric could still feel her in FairyLand. The reason he would not give up on Sookie.

That last dream Sookie had of Eric — still has me wondering how deep the tie goes. Sookie told Eric she knew it was a dream, and she was tired of dreaming about him. We know that Eric sent Hadley physically to Sookie to warn her about Russell and to not trust bill – Sookie didn’t listen. Eric would have checked in with Hadley about Sookie’s response to the warning.
Was Eric able to force the dream on Sookie and tell her subconscious not to trust bill and label it survival instinct?

Will it be a dream from Eric in FairyLand that forces her to actively seek a way back home?

It looks to me like the fae person behind sookie is helping her to throw the fireball – is Sookie being taught to fight with fae magic?

I haven’t been here since I joined, so I’m sorry that I haven’t seen all of the posts. So what I say here may either be outdated by now, or already said, and I apologize for that.
I just want to say that I really hope no fan of a vampire, whether Bill or Eric or Pam,or anyone else, rejects the opinion that ALL vampires are capable of cunning, manipulation, killing, and other dangerous behaviors. It kind of irks me when fans of either vampire make arguments that their favorite would never behave like the other vampire would That is just inherently untrue. And I’m certain AB would vouch for my POV. ALL vampires are badasses, when the opportunity arises.
Having said that, they also have individual personalities and characters, and they all make decisions how they are going to behave. So the fact that Bill “let” the Rats attack Sookie (When she was nothing but a mission)was merely part of his job, which I completely understand. The fact that Eric took Bill to the magister ( S1 ), the fact that Eric called Lorena to come to Dallas, the fact that Eric tricked Sookie into drinking his blood, all these maneuvers were done not to accomplish a mission, not to obey his queen, or to protect himself from a threat. All of these maneuvers were to separate Bill and Sookie, and to position himself in proximity and in sympathy with her. That was his goal. He has accomplished his goal. I do not completely blame him, but it was certainly underhanded, to say the least. Just sayin’.

I really don’t get the promo. When Eric says You are mine – how can Sookie be his, just if he says it? Doesn’t she have to agree? I’m not being a smart *ss, I really don’t know. LOL!

    [Reply]

    trixie Reply:

    @ iamtruetobill
I think it’s perfectly possible to argue that two vampires, just as two people, could act differently when put in the same situation. Yes all vamps are badasses, so what? Doesn’t mean they all behave the same way. You say it yourself, so I don’t get this argument. Of course they are all capable of cunning and manipulations and I don’t see anyone deny it, but the way they go about things is their own and their individual responsibility.
Bill CHOSE to use that method to accomplish his mission. He did his job, with a degree of cold blooded manipulation that imo surpasses anything Eric’s done in regards to sookie. He used that opportunity not only to get his blood into her, but to gain her gratitude and show himself in a noble light. From that point onwards, Sookie never knew who he really was, the kind of life he had led before meeting her. The emotional manipulation and the hypocrisy of it are the worst part, not even the beating per-se.
Yes, Eric wasn’t forced to go after Sookie. he openly wants her and is not above using tricks, especially at the start when she’s just a curiosity, but he never tried to deceive Sookie about who he is and what he wants. If anything he conceals his more tender feelings. He never manipulated her to gain her “sympathy” by putting on an act.
And whatever Eric did, it was not his fault if Bill and Sookie broke up. Bill brought it upon himself. Their relationship was already deeply damaged in its core, but not because of external factors like Lorena or Eric or the queen or whatever he wants to blame his misfortunes on. It was doomed because he never let her know his full self, but just a mask he tailored to suit her naive ideal and his own desires. She’s changing now, and he’s been forced to shed the mask: while the love was real, it couldn’t last with such rotten roots.

    Ashley Reply:

Eric is just being possessive in the promo iamtrue2Bill, when he says “you are mine.” ;)

I agree with you that all vampires can be cunning and manipulative.

But Bill and Eric tend to go about things in very different ways, even when they are both being cunning and manipulative.

Bill let Sookie be hurt to the point of death to get his blood into her.

Eric let HIMSELF get shot while protecting Sookie (those bullets would have gone into Sookie if it weren’t for him) and tricked her into taking his blood.

Both were manipulative, but the differece is this: Bill came off smelling liek roses after his trick, while Eric came off like a jerk.

See what I’m saying? Bill uses his deviousness and manipulation tactics to get Sookie to see him in a certain way: her hero, the guys who (tries) to save her life. (If you go back, the Rattray incident is the only time Bill actually saved Sookie’s life by himself without help, and he let her be put into that situation.. the others were failed attempts).

While Eric isn’t trying to sway Sookie’s opinion. He isn’t trying to appear as her hero or savior, or make himself seem better than other vampires. He presents himself as he is, and then overtime develops feelings for Sookie against his will, and this naturally causes character growth against his will.

Bill’s big mistake was all the lies and constantly pretending to be something he’s not. Bill manipulated Sookie’s feelings through the whole Rattray incident, which started it all. Not just through the blood, but his “rescue” of her there defined their whole relatioship, and it was a lie.

Good points Ashley & Trixie. The manipulation wasn’t just the blood. Bill pretending to be her protector & savior was as a HUGE part of it. It’s the reason she starts to trust him & starts to have feeling for him. Eric’s not the one trying to convince her he’s not like other vampires, Bill is. Turns out he’s right – when it comes hurting & deceiving Sookie, he’s much worse. While I understand there will always be people that find what Bill did forgivable, it surprises me how much some try to minimize the betrayal. (Not directed to true2bill, just in general.)

Sookie’s always seen Eric’s faults. Eric actually has to earn her trust, unlike Bill who tricked her into trusting him.

Also, it was not a part of Bill’s mission to allow two pychopaths to beat Sookie within an inch of her life. Bill chose to do that all on his own. He always tries to place the blame on other people. Eric takes ownership of his mistakes and very sedldom blames others. Bill likes to blame Lorena for all his misdeeds when yes she played a part and is to blame but is not soley to blame. Also, Bill lies to Sookie about other vampires too. Bill tells Sookie he is the only vampire who can control himself around her and that it not true. He tells Sookie that a young vampire like Jessica has zero humanity left. This is not true maybe he believes it though. Also, he told Sookie that he only slept with Diane once(I doubt it). I don’t believe all vampires completely lose their humanity. I think Eric still has some but he buried it over the years. It not necessarily even about regaining it. Sookie will benefit from Eric giving her accurate facts about vampires.

The Rattrays incident is in a entire other league from how Eric got Sookie to drink his blood. Ashley, pointed that out very well Plus, Eric is a terrible liar it was so obvious that he was faining death in the bullet sucking incident. I don’t like everything Eric does but he has his reasons. However, Eric does not pretend or need to come off looking like that hero that is Bill.
