Paleyfest Spoilers – “It Happens”

Straight from Alexander Skarsgard, who mouthed these golden words at the audience after Anna Paquin coyly dodged a question on whether Sookie would act on her attraction to Eric in season 4.

Welcome to the madness of Paleyfest, fellow viking lovers and spoiler whores. For those of you who are Paley virgins, you’re about to get schooled.

Perhaps we should start at the beginning – because one big ‘ole bag of crazy was unleashed at yesterday’s event…and honestly, it’s hard to know where to begin.

Ok, it’s not really. Let me just pick something random. Something like…..

ERIC

As expected, Skars received a raucous welcome that went on…and on…and ON.

The amnesia storyline was confirmed, with Alex telling the audience that Eric loses his memory because “He messed with the wrong people.”

“This powerful character is just gone—it’s not what we’ve built up over the past three years; it is just gone. And it’s a lot of fun for me because it’s the polar opposite of who Eric really is…He is lost. He doesn’t know how he is, he knows he’s a vampire, but he slowly finds out stuff, like, ‘Did I do that? I killed those people? Why would I do that? Oh. Really?’ It’s not easy to hear—and not knowing who he can trust, who’s a friend or an enemy. He’s very vulnerable.”

Kristin Bauer von Straten elaborated:

“[Eric's] being 10 years old, basically. He’s so sweet and cute, because he’s got amnesia. So our whole dynamic has changed. You’ll see how incredibly comedic and brilliant Skarsgård is, which everyone doesn’t know.”

We know, Kristin. WE KNOW.

More from Alex on the plight of our amnesiac vampire:

“Things are definitely not stable for Eric. He doesn’t know who he is, so 1,000 years of resentment for humanity is just gone. He’s very innocent…so Eric needs help. There are a lot of friendly people in Bon Temps who are kind enough to give him help….Pam is obviously very helpful as well—my lovely daughter.”

Other points of interest on Eric:

  • Alex asked Ball for some Pam/Eric flashbacks
  • Godric returns this season in flashback or dream form
  • There will be an “amazing” flashback involving Eric and Bill – Alex: “Just watch it!”

SOOKIE

So aside from Sookie “acting on her attraction” to Eric this season, what else do we have to look forward to from our favorite waitressing, telepathic fairy? Well, it seems that our protestations for a Sookie with half a brain might finally be reaching the right ears. According to Anna Paquin,

“We will see what she learned tempering the way she goes about looking for independence.”

Can we get a freaking AMEN? I cannot cope with this dimwitted, junkie Sookie for another episode. This sounds like a good indication that our ideas here about the effects of Bill’s blood aren’t far off. Given that she’ll presumably be going cold turkey on that shit, I’d expect to see a fiesty, more independent Sookie as a natural consequence.

So where has Sookie gone? And when will she be back?

“She comes back. But things are different.”

I reckon the time jump theory just got a pretty huge boost.

When asked whether Sookie could control the Glowy Hands of Fail, Paquin replied “No. But she’s new at this fairy stuff”.

Will Sookie act on her attraction for Alcide? “Well, he doesn’t turn into a ball of charred fire during the daytime. But he comes with baggage.”

Psychotic, drug addicted, batshit crazy girlfriend baggage. But that’s OK Sook, you can get some help with that. Keep your shotgun and shovel handy.

BILL

Bill will be involved in a major struggle with Sophie Anne. As for the fight, Alan Ball says that Bill will not be taking on the queen by himself.

“It’s not just Bill involved in the fight”.

Stephen Moyer confirmed that he would like to direct an episode. I can’t say this impresses me much, given his often completely baffling comments about his character. Please HBO, just NO. No one wants to see this. Really.

With reference to the infamous twisty head sex scene with Mariana Klaveno, Stephen mentioned that he had his own “fuck puppet”.

OKAY, THEN.

Moving on.

JESSICA AND HOYT

So what torture is Ball going to inflict on the couple everyone roots for?

According to Deborah Ann Woll, “The fairytale can’t go on forever, but maybe reality is better than a fairytale.”

OK, so that sounds promising…right??

Maxine will be back, and she is still her bigoted, bitchy old self.

ALAN BALL

As expected, Ball dropped some stuff that I suspect he thinks are bombs…but really aren’t. Like this on Bill and Sookie:

“It’s hard not to think of them as soulmates when they’re soulmates in real life.”

Wassup, Alan? You’re off your game! Ball’s been throwing some version of this bait out at every Paley and Comic Con since this show started. It used to get us riled up into a right lather. But after the events of season three – and I don’t just mean the edict and the Rattray reveal, either – it’s clear to me and pretty much everyone else watching this show that these two are the most fucked up version of “soul mates” ever to grace our television screens. He knows this. He does. But the reaction this statement gets from both sides of this fandom – every single time he utters it – is the very reason he keeps trotting it out.

Stop reacting.

The “soul mates in real life” reference just SCREAMS dig at the rather odd portion of the fandom who have a distinct problem separating Paquin/Moyer and Bill/Sookie. And that’s all I’m going to say about that.

On Sookie’s betrayal by Bill and whether there is hope for a reunion, Ball said:

“That betrayal is so deep I don’t think there is any way back from that. Hopefully we’ll have 17 more seasons.”

I’m taking that as being tantamount to a cold day in hell.

Another interesting nugget – Ball confirmed that vampires are able to dream. I thought that was pretty obvious when we saw Bill tossing and turning in bed having a nightmare about Lorena and his wife. But maybe some people needed this explicity pointed out…I don’t know.

In any case, this leaves the door open for a popular idea around these parts – namely, that Sookie’s dreams are shared with Eric, rather than him controlling them.

On the books, Ball said that he generally only veers away from them to give the characters besides Sookie good story lines. Otherwise, “the books work”. He also mentioned that all of the writers have read all of them.

We know this, Alan. It’s pretty obvious to most of us here that the core of the story remains intact while you fiddle with the details. And that’s cool, we like to be surprised. You’re doing a stellar job of keeping the important stuff and I’m pretty happy about that.

OTHER BITS AND PIECES OF NOTE…

  • Ryan Kwanten says that Jason Stackhouse is the last person who should be left in charge of a town full of addicts
  • Niall will definitely show up at some point, but not this season.
  • Russell will be back, and “he is gonna be PISSED”.
  • Eric and Lala will continue their…erm..”relationship”. Ball: “Sookie and Bill aren’t the only soulmates.”
  • Ball promises “action” between Tara and Pam (looks like Tara really IS Amelia…)
  • Terry and Arlene’s baby problem will “grow expotentially”.
  • According to Chris Bauer, Andy will be tempted by all the V in his office this season
  • Gary Cole (the creeper boss in Office Space…!!) will guest star in Season 4.

PREVIEW SCENE

So we’re still waiting for a decent version of this, and the one we have is a bit flaky with the audio. But for those of you who have been waiting to see badass Pam, Jessica and Hoyt in the one frame you will not be disappointed.

Click through to feeltheblood tumblr on the pic below to view the S4 preview scene. As soon as it’s up on YouTube, we’ll embed it here.

A big thank you to everyone who participated in our live blog during the panel last night – we had a HUGE response and it was great fun watching the news roll in on Twitter with you all. We hope to bring you another one soon.

And finally, a big thanks to Ashley and Serena for helping collate tweets and info for this post.

I’m all spoilered out….for now!

Thanks for this SVB. I missed it being in the UK and have been doing a mad scramble trying to pull together the pieces of what happened. THANK YOU!!

  • Thank you SVB. At the moment I don’t know what to think… I’m still in shock for AE. But there are so many things to talk about… I don’t even know where to start.
YAY for Sookie growing a brain cell and Eric-Lala interactions and AB basically confirming that Bill and Sookie are OVER… Yay!

Thank you SVB. I have been trying to put together everything in my head that was said yesterday and you have done a perfect job for me!

So pleased that AE will definitely appear.

“There are a lot of friendly people in Bon Temps who are kind enough to give him help.” I’d love to see Eric knocking back a True Blood whilst in Merlotte’s chatting to Andy Bellefleur but I guess Sookie will have to keep him hidden from the witches?

Thank you, SVB, Ashley and Serena for last night!!! I am so excited for season 4, I don’t know what to do. I loved the clip w/Jessica, Hoyt and Pam at Fangtasia. Anytime Pam and Jessica are together is a good time, imo!!! I really don’t think that Tara and Pam are going to have any kind of sexual relationship…I think action just means interaction of some kind. I could be wrong, though, but I just don’t see that legitimately happening with Tara’s character (not the lesbian thing, the vampire thing) at this point.

I think AE is going to be epic. I can’t wait!!!!!!!!!! I am even starting to look forward to Bill’s storyline, now that it seems like a good bet that he and Sookie won’t be together (at least for a long time)!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!

I also look forward to more Eric/Lala interaction in whatever form it occurs. Oh and Bill/Eric flashback – Yes, please!!

Not looking forward to the Arlene’s baby storyline, but I can deal.

I love Alan Ball right now, no matter how many times he uses the word ‘soulmatel!!

Best parts: Amnesia Eric, no ‘crazy’ Eric!!!! Independent Sookie finally :D Eric/Lala moment. B/S is OVER!!! *victory dance*

I thought the ‘soulmates’ comment was to give the BL’s a bone, bc they didn’t get much spoiler and this must be hard for them after 3 seasons of B/S. I thought the ‘f*ck puppet’ comment was odd. SM can be a fun guy but sometimes I don’t get his humor.
I loved the mouthed ‘it happens’ from Alex. YEAH Alex you’re the man, ILY!!!!
The stage was very crowded and I think that was a stragedy to not spoil too much about the characters everyone wants to know about, Eric/Sookie and Bill (although I have to admit, I don’t really care what Bill does). I was very dissapointed that none of the fans questions were answered. But I do remember some Bill questions were for SM to direct an episode of TB.

Thank you again SVB, Serena and Ashley for all your effort yesterday. I had so much fun!

ps. I tried three times to post a comment on Sunday Skars and none of them were registered :(

The soul mate thing truly doesn’t bother me, except that the way AB twisted it is a total cop out. Rather than admit he said it to deliberately mislead the audience about Sookie and Bill’s relationship, now he’ll just claim that it’s because they’re soul mates in real life. Whatever. And he’s got a bridge for sale, if we’re interested, too.

Like everyone here, I’m delighted to see we’re getting AE. But I have this little thought pinging around my brain – “be careful what you wish for”. (Please don’t shoot me yet.) It happened in the books too, and we lived through it, right? What happens when the curse is lifted? How much angst will our couple have to endure? And how long will it last?

    [Reply]

    SVB Reply:

Oh there’ll be angst. But I’m totally cool with that. It’s their journey. They have to go through that. IT’S ALL GOOD!

So I woke up this morning, and I can’t see shit. I can’t read shit…. All I can see is Amnesia Eric.

Anyone else have this sickness?

…… after some more coffee, but obviously not enough….

-”let me pick something random.” ~ Teehee!
-I can’t get over how much Alex talked.- He said a lot, much more than he ever said last year that I can remember, it was over and over again the same old drivel about Eric having ‘this revenge thing going on…’ blah blah blah. But this year, its waay more. In fact, the guy from Zap2it reported that Alex seemed to be the only one willing or able to talk about season 4 in greater detail.. very strange to me. In a good way.
-I love that Eric and Laffy are going to continue their bromance. Its going to be downright charming watching AE interact with the sassy witchy fry cook. Squeee!!
-I totally missed this fuckpuppet thing in full context, I mean I didn’t get it that Moyer had his own inanimate fuck buddy during the Lorena scene. *Awkward Lol.*
-17 seasons. Bwhaha. Yeah right. Good luck with that.
-Hip hip hURRAY for independent, decision making Sookie! Huzzah!!!

    Amnesia Eric. :)

There is no cure for that sickness, Serena! I’m afraid we’ll just have to suffer through a few more months before we have a full recovery, lol.

Thank you to SVB and the mods for last night! It was so amazing and I love all of the fans we have here. I don’t, personally, have more to add right now except to say that everyone should read the lyrics for the Evanescence song “Bring Me To Life” that opened the panel. They are not someone I listen to but their song was PERFECT. Also, I’d love to know what Buffy clip they showed and if it was related in any way to the upcoming season or simply a nod to the books.

Okay, I was able to see a tiny clip of Paleyfest (done by the Nest looks like) on Youtube and when AS refers to the flashback, he says we’ll see an amazing flashback with “this one” and gestures toward SM, so it might not be an Eric/Bill flashback, but Bill and others, which is fine with me, because Eric has amnesia and that’s what really matters!!!!!!!!!

Okay, I do have more to add:

I watched the clip. Can’t understand much of what is said but apparently Hoyt goes off on the protestor and it’s hilarious. This must be the “fangbanger” fight we see videotaped (duh), and I’m wondering if, after Hoyt gets the crap beat out of him, Jessica is forced to give him blood again. Not that it matters but it was a thought!

Thanks SVB and mods for last night (and this morning). I know you guys have been hard at it to get all the juicy details laid out for us.

It looks like both the AE clip and the Fangtasia clip are from E2. Why are Jessica and Hoyt at Fangtasia? Does the confrontation happen before or after Eric is cursed? Argh – so.many.questions.can’t.wait.until.June.

Wasn’t Episode 2 called You Smell Like Dinner? If so, then I bet that’s the episode where she finds him running down the street. This is how I visioned it. Sookie’s driving down the street. She sees a naked man running down the street. She rolls down her window and shouts, “Hey!” The naked man pays no attention to her. She drives up a little closer pulls her car over, and gets out. She tells the naked man to stop. He whips around her fangs out. Sookie screams. There’s a shot of Eric’s face. And she says, “Eric?!” FADE TO BLACK. CREDITS. Of course they could always play the song “You Smell Like Dinner” during the credits. That’s just how I see it

Thank you for compiling all that info, SVB and crew. The part where Skars says that Eric remembers he’s a vampire but nothing else is key, IMO. I know some were speculating about him somehow being human, and I was getting a little worried. And thanks for clearing up the “fuck puppet” comment too – I was like, huh? And shared dreams! Yes! • I’m worried about AE,I’ve always been. I can’t put my finger on this feeling, but my thoughts are:
    1) I hope that AE doesn’t last ALL the season, bc as much as I find AE sweet and lovely I know as hell I would miss the badass vampire sheriff too much;
    2) I’m not sure I really want Sookie hooking up with AE. oh hell, I already voiced my perplexity about this thing even in the books…
    3) I just hope AE won’t be only sweet like a puppy but somewhere, somewhen his fierce nature surfaces. Otherwise it would be like watching Askars playing someone else than Eric.

… Aside from this, I’m really really EXCITED.

    Heart's Desire Reply:

I hope TB gives us glimpses of ‘real’ Eric, like the SSN did. And how Sookie longs for the Eric she knows even while enjoying AE. It sounds like they are going to have him feel guilty about all the things he’s done as vampire and I’m not sure I’m crazy about that. We’ll see.

The way I’ve always looked at it, is AE is only a part of their overall story. ‘Real’ Eric is who Sookie falls in love with, AE just shows her another side of him & shows Eric how happy he could be.

This could be a bit out of character imho. I get the awesomeness of puppyEric, but it’s not that he turns into a completely different person. RE or AE, Eric doesn’t feel guilty about his vampire attitude. I’m not sure if I like this angle. We’ll see, right.

    [Reply]

    Lene Reply:

Not really that out of character, I remember Sookie telling him that they only meet up when he’s forcing her to do something and he wasn’t pleased. There’s a reason why Sookie felt compelled to assure him that “you’re okay…”. Also the mutual hatred between that of vampires and weres bothered him.

Mind I hope they play up the scared out of wits on account of the loss of control aspect rather than the guilt. It’s more in character.

    [Reply]

    Ashley Reply:

I think his badassness will surface. I think he’s going to be upset at first because he can’t remember why he did the things he did…and it probably will frustrate him. They said he won’t know who to trust…I think that’s why he’ll be upset, not necessarily guilt. I don’t think you can feel guilty about something you don’t remember doing and don’t have any idea why you did it.

I really enjoyed it when sookie missed the old Eric and tested him asking him if he REALLY cared about Jason to see if it was really the real him…and Eric reacted just like the real Eric would. That was one of my favorite parts.

As the writers have all read the books, Im sure we will see glimpses of Sheriff Eric even if he’s all puppy at first.

    [Reply]

    allabouteric Reply:

@hime I actually do kinda agree with u about the puppy-dog eyed Eric!! I am not so sure that I want to see a fluffy no-bite (figuratively) Eric. At least not an entire season of it. I love the badass sheriff way too much. Anyhow I am also excited about AE now… We shall see I guess…?

OMG, so excited. the Eric storyline seems to have at least one of the main things we wanted. Vulnerability. I can live without the shower scene if Eric gets some decent plot.

Sookie more intelligent and sassy sounds good, it was the only thing still bugging me about the main story.
Hope the Arlene baby storyline actually goes somewhere this season, bits of it were interesting.

Fingers crossed for Hoyt and Jessica, but I’m not holding my breath, his mother has some major issues, and it looks like she wants to use a shotgun to solve them.

Glad Tara is around, her little car trip worried me. Maybe thats why Sookie came back from fairyland *ahem* I think her and Pam simply talking to each other will be hysterical.

Oh Laffy, drop Jesus, turn straight and call me :) He’s adorable, I think he deserves a spin-off. i think i’m still a little amused at how shy he is in interviews.

NOOOOOOOOOO. I don’t want Tara to be Amelia! I loved Amelia in the books, and Tara is my absolute LEAST favourite character. I like Bill more than I like Tara. My RL name is Amelia, I feel strongly about this!

    [Reply]

    Serena Reply:

I do too Silvereyed. I like Amelia, a lot. I like her shady dad too. I like Tara for different reasons, and I feel cheated if they are merged characters. .. that’s just how I feel. :(

But I don’t think that is what necessary was said last nite either. ;)

I think I’d feel a bit ill if Tara and Pam had “Action” action together, Iykwim? I’m all for female/female loving, but just not those two.

Yes Tara is one of my least favourite too and I really liked Amelia in the books. I will be so disappointed it they do merge the characters.

Seriously?! I find that pairing really cool. Both have zero patience for the shit peddled by the likes of Bill and Franklin, a dark sense of humour and fiercely loyal. Also I’m guessing that empowered Tara is going to be a lot more fun than helpless Tara, gaining some of Amelia’s bouncy energy.

I was in fangirl heaven yesterday following it all with you guys (unbelieveable as i am a grown-ass women and all that)

I cannot believe Skars mouthed ‘it happened’, that was the single most exciting moment from the broadcast. Can’t wait to see the video

Thanks so much for this excellent recap of Paleyfest. I am so grateful that we are getting AE and hopefully another shower scene even better than Om Sara’s. (But I won’t go so far as to say I love AB. His nature is all twisty and devious.) I can’t believe how young he looks in the spoiler clip…more like 24 than 34. I loved KBvS’s comments about how comedic and awesome Eric is while amnesiac. I also loved the seating order…AB, AP, SM, then AS. It was great that he was seated ahead of the other “stars” of the show.
Apparently Alex’s facial expressions during the long O (ovation, not the other O word) were hilarious. Plus he stayed longer (45 minutes) than anyone else signing autographs. If possible, I even love him more today.

I am looking forward to Season 4 now more than ever.

Oops don’t know hat happened there. I am so excited. Thank you SVB, Ashley and Serena all the work you guys did for the Paley. I wasn’t able to follow it but so glad that everyone one else was. So thank goodness we are getting AE, otherwise I may have wanted to take a hatchet to AB. No doubt AB will play with out minds in some other way. I so need to see E / S in order to keep faith with the show. Not to worried about Bill at the moment. He is obviously going to have his own issues in S4. Also relief that it looks like we are going to get a bit more of a kick ass Sookie this season. Eric looks so lost in the clip but still delicious.

I’ve been watching the actual footage today and I think the Bill folks are going to have trouble rationalizing/denying/wishing away S Moyer’s characterization of the twisted-neck sex scene with Lorena as “rape.” Bill’s nobility is so integral to their fantasies that they’ve clung to the non-rape of Sook in the Herveaux construction van as proof of TB Bill’s gallant humanity. To hear Moyer acknowledge that Bill rapes Lorena out of revenge (in conjunction with his repeated use of the f word throughout the scene) is going to be a bigger disappointment to them than AE.
They’ll all have to hide in fairyland til that memory fades. Perhaps we ‘ll need to call it ABF (Amnesia for Bill Fans).

    [Reply]

    sheldon Reply:

YEs DH87, I thought that too. I was gobsmacked that SM actually used the word rape re that scene with Lorena and that he commented on the psychology of Bills motives (its the only power he has over her to paraphrase) regarding the act itself.

I wonder what Bill fans have to say about that? And yes, I would hazard a guess that this little nugget may conveniently slip through their memory filter. ABF indeed!

So all the BLs are latching onto something that Alan Ball said. Apparently instead of just plain “betrayal” AB used the words ” or what she perceives as betrayal” . So basically they are saying Eric is tricking Sookie, Bill is pretending for some reason and he did not actually do any of that. Thoughts anyone? Does the fact that AB says Sookie perceives it as betrayal make a difference?

    [Reply]

    VikingLover Reply:

No it doesn’t make a difference. He betrayed her and that’s that. There is also the fact that AB said you cannot come back from a betrayal like that, etc.

    [Reply]

    VikingLover Reply:

Also, Bill admitted to it in that scene. It did happen even if some people want to deny that it did. Bill finally confessed it because he was forced to.

    [Reply]

    DH87 Reply:

TB Bill can lie to Sook, rape Lorena, hit Pam and attack Sophie Ann, procure strippers, drink from innocent old ladies, and throw Eric into the cement pit so long as at some point in the future he looks “sorry” for doing it.

    [Reply]

    Nancy Garcia Reply:

Those would be those people Tara talked about. Love that SM confirmed what we already knew; the book rape/drain scene was split between the two women in Bill’s life in TB. He drained Sookie and raped Lorena.

    [Reply]

    Ashley Reply:

He said that because that’s how Sookie herself sees it….as flat out BETRAYAL and anyone who sees it differently is delusional. Yes, I said it, delusional. He was talking about Sookie as a character.

Im not normally one to call people out, but that scene was what it was…..a horrible revelation that the man you love is a liar and manipulator (which you already suspected), and that he manipulated you into getting involved with and falling for him.

And in an AB interview that just came out, he said Sookie will not forgive Bill and she meant everything she said to Bill. She will “thaw a bit” (which probably means if she has to interact with him she will) but will not forgive him, not this season.

if the story brings eric and sookie together in a special way, and we already know it does, sookie will smarten up. she rises to the occasion. a bazillion women would&have&do&will drool, pant, and beg at erics feet to be mounted like a dog. only a special human could attract more than his dick…and only a special human would be attracted to more than his dick. and, that is not a woman who will sit when he says sit, stay when he says stay, fetches when he says fetch, and spreads her legs when he says roll over. a wishy-washy ding-bat would never hold up to a real relationship with eric. sookie will blossom and shine in all her independent, sassy glory while coupled with our favorite alpha male. being with eric inspires her to dig deep within herself, as being with her inspires eric to dig deep within himself. (i cant wait to watch them dig on eachother). also, eric smartens up and rises to sookies occasion as well(teeheehee). to be clear~im not saying sookie improves her lazy brain condition so that she can be with eric. that would be kind of lame. what i am saying is: sookies strength belongs to sookie. she owns it, not eric. shes no “damsel in distress”, damn it. sookie has been hiding a sack of hairy balls, and im looking forward to seeing them in action. (p.s. i won a ticket to paley fest after show sold out. but guess what? i couldnt go. i couldnt go. i didnt go to paley fest).

It’s been 2 days since Paley and I’m still jumping up and down. I’ve spent my morning watching footage on youtube and the “Waiting Sucks” clip and I still can’t get enough. I am SO excited about Season 4 and I was actually dreading it after last season.

Thank you SVB, Serena and Viking Lover for running the twitter feed and chat box for us. It’s nice to know there are people around the globe that are as obsessed with the Sookieverse as I am (okay, who am I trying to kid… obsessed with Eric/ ASkars is more like it).

ASkars was wonderful at Paley. He was genuine, charming, likable, and wonderful to his fans. I only wish I could’ve been on the front row to experience it for myself. AMAZING!!!

AB’s actual quote about Bill and Sookie
“True Blood showrunner Alan Ball revealed that Bill (Stephen Moyer) and Sookie’s (Anna Paquin) emotional breakup in Season 3′s finale will definitely stick, calling their road to reconciliation a “long journey,” and one that won’t happen quickly. “[Bill's] betrayal [of Sookie] is so deep that I don’t think she sees a way back from that,” Ball said. “That’s why we need 17 seasons.”

    [Reply]

    SVB Reply:

Actually bushpiglet, THIS is his actual quote – since I believe Ball isn’t in the habit of talking about himself in the third person.

I do think for [Sookie & Bill] to get back together is a journey. It’s not going to happen fast. I think the betrayal, or what she perceives as the betrayal, is so deep that I don’t think there’s an easy way back from that. But hopefully there will be 17 more seasons.

Since 17 seasons is about the same as saying never, I’m running with it. But you know, he’s got to keep you guys watching huh?!

He also said a few other interesting things we didn’t know at the time I made the post above (which came purely from the twitter feed a couple of hours after the panel…before anyone had video).

    Can Sookie forgive Bill?

“I wouldn’t use the word forgive. I think things thaw a bit between them, but I would hesitate to use the word forgive. That’s a very strong word.”

Oh, and also to Ausiello earlier today:

“She is definitely going to grow closer to one individual in particular… I think people who read the books will not be surprised.”

Thanks for dropping by to correct me though, K, you can go back to your own playpen now.

    :D

You’re welcome SVB! As AB said last year
“I think that Bill and Sookie of the show have become slightly different from the Bill and Sookie of the books. I personally root for things to work out between them.I don’t know if they will, but I believe the love is true between them.” Mind you AB is a “twisty bastard” and who knows. So looking forward to S4. Love how AB still has given hardly anything away.

    Toodles!

    [Reply]

    allabouteric Reply:

@bushpiglet – the only thing that AB did however give away (like I am sure you already know) was that Bill and Sookie would not be able to find their way back unless they had 17 seasons. And that forgiveness was way too strong a word for whatever charitable feelings Sookie “might” harbor for Bill.
But yeah AB is a “twisty bastard” like you say. He kept ELs foaming at the mouth for nearly 3 seasons before finally revealing what a scumbag Bill was. And the kind of scumbag that has no redemption. So yeah he is a “twist bastard” :)

    [Reply]

    Ashley Reply:

He was talking about Season 3 when he said that, and it was pre-rattray/queen’s mission reveal. Things have changed dramatically since then, no? The “but I don’t know if it will” was a big hint of what was coming.

    [Reply]

    Ashley Reply:

We have also learned quite a bit about what Bill will be doing this season and what the conclusion of the fight with the queen will be so Im sure he will be very busy. :)

    Lene Reply:

I hate to break this to you, but AB isn’t above lying.

    [Reply]

    SVB Reply:

Wow it’s going to be like a weird form of deja vu watching you guys go through the agonising process of trying to decipher what Ball is saying while he’s screwing you over. Poor darlings, you aren’t used to it at all.

Take it from the camp who’ve had three years to figure out his MO – when Ball says he thinks that Bill and Sookie of the show have become slightly different from the Bill and Sookie of the books, he sure isn’t saying they’re any better. Trust me.

And you did forget to qualify that the comment above was made at Comic Con literally weeks before Bill was outed. And the hilarious part is that at the time he said it, Ball knew what exactly what was coming.

Let me explain something to you. The difference between this camp and yours is that Eric fans don’t EXPECT a smooshy love story. Eric and Sookie are not that in the books, and we don’t expect it on TB. Their dynamic is far more complex and interesting than that and we fully expect to see that on the show.

    [Reply]

    KCScout Reply:

LOL, when AB says “I don’t know if they will” (Sookie and Bill get back together) that’s just an out-and-out lie. He is the *only* person who knows for sure but he just doesn’t want to alienate BL viewers. We EL’s may end up being sorely disappointed, but AB didn’t raise our hopes as high as yours. Soulmates, pfft.

Does anyone know when S4 is going to air? A tweet just came across my stream from @TrueBloodHBO that stated it’s just set for Summer 2011, but the exact date has not been decided. I can swear I saw something a while ago that said something like June 19.
