  • Eric is hot

I wish I could be there to see Alex.

Is it even possible to fit that many people on one stage? Seems odd that they’d ALL be there.

I’m surprised at how many are going as well.

I’m psyched that Alex will be there, but in all honesty this list is just excessive. I was thinking it would only be the principle actors, AKA Alex, Anna, Stephen, Ryan, etc. Whenever television shows hold panels, don’t they generally have around 5 or 6 six of the actors on stage?

I’m wondering whether they will all be doing the Panel. In 2009 the Panel was:

Alan Ball, Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer, Ryan Kwanten, Sam Trammell, Rutina Wesley, Alexander Skarsgard, Nelsan Ellis, Carrie Preston.

The list above is over double that number. The Paley site actually says only that those on the list above are “scheduled to appear” “in person”. The more I think about it, the more I think only some will be doing the Q and A.

Yeah, you could be right. Glad AS is going though. But several of those actors won’t be getting asked a lot of questions if they’re actually up there.

If half the time gets wasted on Jesus, Tommy, Arlene and other characters no one gives half a fuck about I will not be impressed.

    Yeah that. ^

If we have to hear another word about Arlene et al, imma get stabby. :x

    Katee Reply:

Yeah that is basically the worst possibly scenario but I have to say, when I saw the list, the first thing I thought was that we wouldn’t hear anything note worthy.

Oh gawd, they WOULD torture us with that shit. If AS is not on that panel, I probably won’t even bother watching.

    Margo Reply:

I hear that an agree. I could care less if Tommy was shot.

    NorthernSoul Reply:

Couldn’t agree more. I hope they have enough sense to figure out that people want to know about the main storyline and all these minor characters and their subplots aren’t worth all that time, either on the show or the panel.

Oh I think you are so right SVB. To me it seems like divide an conquer. They’ll pick questions that touch on each character and then there won’t be enough time for some of the nitty gritty questions to AB. Sly tactic on AB’s part. Sod.

That makes more sense, maybe the cast will be in attendance but only a select few will be on stage? Physically it just seems a bit cramped to fit almost 20 people on a theater-type stage. I was at last year’s Comic Con and the actors were literally squeezed in together.

Of course, everyone will be asking Alan, Anna, Alex, Stephen and possibly Joe the most questions. It’s pretty much universally accepted by both critics and fans that no-one really cared about Sam, Jason and Arlene’s stories. All the same, I look forward to the lesser cast members answering one or two small questions about their characters.

All I needed to hear is that alex will be there. Hopefully the tickets arent sold out.

Well just looking at the casting spoilers it looks like Jesus is going to be getting a major chunk of season 4 what with flashbacks and all that ( even Pam does not get flashbacks) so it makes sense he is there. He will probably be in each ep taking up like 15 mins and make Laffy boring. He is a major character according to Alan Ball and I am sure Ball loves him (since he is an original creation) and maybe he will get more scenes than Eric in season 4. So the concept of who are the major characters can depend. Which is why they are present I guess.

    Katee Reply:

Now that you mention it, the idea that Jesus will get flashbacks next season while Pam may not and never has, is downright criminal.

    [Reply]

    jayetea Reply:

I am still holding out hope that we will see Pam in the 80′s flashback in London, whether the flashback is hers or not.

    [Reply]

    Katee Reply:

I am kind of hoping that seeing AE will make her weepy and we will get a flashback of her turning.

    [Reply]

    hime Reply:

I hope that too. Never give up hope. They HAVE to make a flashback about Pam’s turning sooner or later. It would be criminal not to do.
But I agree that the importance given to Jesus is offensive. I don’t care about him, he’s not enough crazy, or cruel, or funny, or scary, or hot. He is a bore. He ruined Lafa in last season! :(

    [Reply]

    Katee Reply:

ITA! I have to believe he is going to have a major role in the WW or otherwise why bother? But I cna’t see him being a Big Bad. He is just so….boring. I don’t see how they can possibly make him or his background interesting, but I guess we’ll see.

I just want our Lala back. :(

    Ashley Reply:

I think that’s the case, that he’ll be very involved in the witches/witch war.

    LovetheViking Reply:

I am hoping that Jesus does have a role in the Witch War and then gets killed off.

I think he will be killed off. I don’t know, but I think one of these characters is for sure doomed.

I’m glad that Alex will attend but hoping that not all the cast will appear on stage. Who really cares about Jesus, Arlene, Sam and Tommy???

    [Reply]

    Diana Reply:

Some people care about more than Eric. Really. They do.

    [Reply]

    Ashley Reply:

Please take that chip on your shoulder elsewhere. No one wants to hear it. Notice she didn’t list BILL as one of the people no one cares about.

    [Reply]

    Freyja Reply:

I may be a Eric lover and this may be a pro-Eric blog but I/we actually want to hear about other characters like Bill, Sookie, Pam, Jessica, Lafayette and Jason or even Alcide… you know the main characters and those that are really involved in their storylines!!!! With more people on stage there are less questions asked to the main cast.

Why o why o why of whyyyyyy do I not reside in the U S of A? I could totally imagine stealing my way inside somehow (and then getting thrown out for trying to kidnap AS)

Hope some of the better questions (i.e. those put forward by you lot) get answered and not a whole load of frustrating drivel!

For the love of god, I would rather them not answer any audience/viewer questions at all than have to listen to all the inanity!!! Some of those questions are unbelievable!

    [Reply]

  • Lyta

arghhh! I was reading the questions and the Paley was already stressed!
I think we need more intelligent questions … I mean if I read any more fawning over sugary about SM, totally overblown, I puke! and someone even said that Eric is a “villain” in the series, when this idea badly formed will ended?

    [Reply]

    hime Reply:

Ha ha. Still labeling Eric a villain? I wonder if those people actually have a brain whatsoever. But some of the questions were all arse-kissing and drooling over SM. Elaborating a true question takes too much effort, you know.

    [Reply]

    Ashley Reply:

Yeah I couldn’t believe the ass kissing. Seriously people, you’re makin yourself look a fool. LOL.

    [Reply]

    Diana Reply:

Because there is no foolish arse kissing and drooling over AS here.

    [Reply]

    Ashley Reply:

Yes, Diana, I was actually talking about both sides. The ass kissing of both AS and SM by some people. But I guess you’re just making assumptions about what I meant aren’t you?

    [Reply]

    Ashley Reply:

And most people who drool over AS here wouldn’t do it in a Paley question for everyone at Paley to hear and the people choosing the questions to read. Pretty embarassing if you ask me.

    [Reply]

    Freyja Reply:

Yeah, nothing wrong to drool over an actor or be a major fan, but actually fawning over them in every question you ask on there is really quite embarrassing hehe.

If you go back over all over the questions – all thirty pages of them – I think there’s alot of intelligent questions peppered throughout. Of course there is also the obligatory amount of disgusting arse licking but on balance, the meaty questions far outweigh the brain farts.

    [Reply]

    Ashley Reply:

Agreed. There are many that make me cringe, but there are a lot of good ones.

    [Reply]

    Janofarc Reply:

Yeah. And not all of the intelligent questions were asked by us lol!

I seriously hope that only a select few from that list will be doing the Q&A. Maybe they’ll skim through the questions put forward and select the panel based on that? After all, if none of the fans or journos have a question for Kevin Alejandro or Marshall Allman then what’s the point of them even being there for them?

    [Reply]

    Ashley Reply:

Agreed on that too. I don’t think anyone will ask KA or MA questions either. Its just that that’s not where the juicy story lies, LOL. I tried to ask questions of other characters like DAW and KBvS, but most of the questions will be to AS, AB, SM, and AP.

Does anyone know if this event will be televised? And if so, what channel??? And when?

    [Reply]

  • BigPileofDust (Pey)

Love your blog, SVB. I’m a longtime lurker, first time commenter. :)

Ericstruelav, I don’t believe the PaleyFest panels are ever broadcast on television, although videos do tend to end up YouTube. (It is technically against Paley rules to shoot video of the panel.) For example, I watched most of the 2008 Buffy Reunion online: Buffy Reunion – PaleyFest 2008 – Part 1

Since the Paley Center for Media is a nonprofit, Paley usually offers the taped panels for sale on DVD. The DVD of the 2009 PaleyFest True Blood panel was offered as a package with Season 2 of True Blood, sold at Target.

My particular experience is that the moderator of the panel REALLY matters. I’ve attended one where the moderator was a bit cringe-inducing. :p

  • Freyja

Do you know of anybody who will be attending? And giving us feedback?

    [Reply]

    SVB Reply:

I don’t think anyone from here is going Freyja. But it’s ok, Paley tweet the whole thing live as do plenty of others. So we won’t miss anything ;)

I’ll have all the highlights up on the blog asap after the panel is over.

Think they will show a S4 promo?

    [Reply]

    SVB Reply:

Probably not. I think more likely it will be a scene from one of the early new episodes. At Paley in 2009 (which was between S1 and 2) they showed the scene where Sookie got attacked by the maenad.

In March last year, we got the first look at S3 which was the scene with Eric and Sookie fighting the were in her house.

So I’m thinking we’re up for something like that…just a scene probably and one that will most likely involve Sookie…and maybe someone else ;)
